Despite how quickly they come together, biscuits can be tricky to make. If you're trying to make proper Southern biscuits, there are a lot of dos and don'ts to keep in mind for a perfectly baked result. It's enough to make you want to give up on buttery biscuits altogether. Or, you could just do away with tradition, buy yourself a can of 7-Up, a box of Bisquick, some sour cream and whip up some pretty damn good biscuits in no time. Seriously, so easy.

Also, this recipe has been around for a while -- its origins are unknown -- but it's a keeper for those days when you just need a quick, good biscuit.
How does it work? Well, the Bisquik has leavener in it -- so that's how your biscuits rise. The 7-Up takes the place of buttermilk -- its carbonation acts as like the acid in buttermilk, helping to keep the biscuits tender. That's the sheer magic of it.
