Donald Trump, the business mogul who has proven during his presidential bid that he has no problem throwing insults at any of his opponents, said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Friday that he is "thin-skinned."
As soon as Trump called in for his interview, he scolded co-host Joe Scarborough for not mentioning him in an earlier segment about which candidates could beat the latest entry into the large Republican presidential field, Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
DONALD TRUMP: Well, I'm leading in all of the polls by a lot. I was just listening to you, Joe, and you know we all love you and Mika [Brzezinski], but I was listening to you talking about Bush and Rubio and a couple of others and you sort of forgot to mention my name even though I'm creaming them all in the polls. I don't understand what you're doing.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: Donald, what are you talking about? What are you talking about? We've been talking about you for a week. What are you talking about?
TRUMP: Joe, you were talking about Kasich and you mentioned Bush and Rubio and somebody else that I won't mention because I actually like that person.
SCARBOROUGH: What are you talking about? What are you talking about, Donald? How thin is your skin? I've been talking about you for a week.
TRUMP: No, no, I agree with that. But when you were talking about Bush who, by the way, is about 10 points lower than me, you sort of mentioned like, you know, can Kasich beat Bush? Well, you know, excuse me, what about Trump? I mean, you know, we are 10 points ahead.
Later in the segment, Scarborough, who could hardly keep a straight face during the exchange, again asked Trump if he was "that thin-skinned."
"Yes, oh, I'm thin-skinned," Trump replied.
Trump saying he has thin skin come within a week of him criticizing Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for being captured during the Vietnam War, making fun of former Texas Gov. Rick Perry's (R) glasses and giving out Sen. Lindsey Graham's (R-S.C.) phone number while speaking at a campaign rally.
In an interview on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday, Trump explained that he uses his insults to get back at his opponents.
"Oh, I don’t think -- look, when people attack me, I let them have it back," Trump said. "You know, it’s my hair but people are constantly attacking my hair. I don’t see you coming to my defense. I’m -- my hair is just fine, but I don’t see you coming to my defense."
During his announcement speech last month, Trump also called undocumented immigrants "rapists" and said they are "bringing drugs" to the U.S., which led to several companies ending business partnerships with him.
