These Are The Most Protestant U.S. Cities

Nashville tops the list.

In Nashville, Tennessee, 38 percent of the population identifies as white evangelical Protestant, 17 percent of residents identify as white mainline Protestant, 12 percent of the population is made up of black Protestants, one percent is Hispanic Protestant and another one percent is made up of non-white Protestants that don't fit into any of the above groups. With 69 percent of its population identified with Protestantism, Nashville tops the list of most Protestant U.S. cities.

New analysis from the the Public Religion Research Institute ranks the largest religious groups in the 30 largest U.S. metropolitan areas. Catholics and the religiously unaffiliated vie for biggest faith-related population in many of cities, with Protestants coming closesly behind.
