Bride-To-Be Stabbed During Bachelorette Party

The wedding may have to be rescheduled until the bride is out of the hospital.

Sherrie Snader's bachelorette party turned tragic early Sunday when she and her sister were stabbed.

The sisters were part of a group from Cincinnati who were celebrating the pending nuptials in Louisville, Kentucky.

Police say Sherrie, 27 and her sister Melissa, 21, were returning to their hotel when the suspect, identified as Kalief Cummings, confronted them, WHAS TV reports.

An altercation ensued, and Cummings allegedly stabbed both sisters before riding off on a bicycle, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.

The sisters managed to escape and ran to a safe place where they called police. They both suffered collapsed lungs from the stabbing and were treated at an area hospital, according to Newser.com.

Officers arrested Cummings, 45, a few hours later using surveillance video and the victims' descriptions, according to Lex18. He has been charged with two counts of assault.

His motive is unclear.

Richard Snader, the womens' father, called the stabbings "sick."

"Really it's the kind of shock -- you don't believe it, because these are great girls," he told WDRB.com. "They wouldn't hurt anybody. It's dismay. Even if you're going to rob somebody, why do you have to stab them?"

The sisters are expected to fully recover, but the Aug. 29 wedding may have to be rescheduled as they are both expected to be in the hospital through the end of the week.
