A Woman In A Wheelchair Answers Questions About Her Sex Life

"Dating is a tricky biz whether you're in a wheelchair or not."

Santina Muha is here to remind you that, yes, disabled people do have sex.

In a new video for BuzzFeed, the comedian and writer answers questions about what love, dating and sex is like for a person in a wheelchair. "How do you have sex?" is a question that Muha gets a lot. But take it from her -- it's really not that different from sex with an able-bodied person.

"Everybody wants to know 'How do you have sex when you’re in a wheelchair?'" Muha says. “I don’t understand why this question is so popular because how do you have sex? I mean, do you guys walk around while you have sex?" she asks.

"It’s like I get on a bed, typically and I you know..” Muha says. That's about it.

She also answers questions about the logistics of her dating life, like are there advantages to dating in a wheelchair and are blind dates more awkward for her.

When asked if her wheelchair ever "ruins the romance" of a relationship, Muha says she thinks her wheelchair got in the middle of a relationship once.

“I dated a guy one time and he lived with me, and the wheelchair I think kind of did contribute to our demise because he was helping me so much around the house that it almost started to feel like he worked for me," she says. "But I have other friends in wheelchairs who their boyfriends are helping them with personal stuff and it works out great.”

Muha points out that dating is always going to be tricky whether you’re in a wheelchair or not. "So if you are in a wheelchair don’t give up if you’re not dating someone. You can totally do it," she says. "And if you’re attracted to somebody in a wheelchair but you’re not sure if you can date the person I say give it a try.”
