Don't steal. But if you're going to steal, maybe steer clear of professional MMA fighters.
Monique Bastos laid down some serious karmic justice in Acailandia, Brazil, Tuesday night, after would-be thieves tried to rob her and two friends of their cell phones, Brazilian news website GoTropa reported.
Needless to say, the robbery didn't go as planned:
The two men arrived on a motorcycle as Bastos was on her way to jiu-jitsu training, she told MMAFighting.com.
"I tried to hold my phone, and I realized they were not armed. When they tried to escape, I lifted the rear wheel of the bike and they fell on the ground," Bastos said. "The guy who took my phone ran away, but I was able to get the other one."
As video of the incident shows, "get" is an understatement. Bastos calmly held the man -- later identified as 18-year-old Wesley de Sousa Araujo -- in a chokehold with her legs for 15 minutes until police showed up.
Here she is smiling for a picture while Araujo panics on the ground:
Bastos added she's "been through this a few times before," and decided to fight back this time around.
Watch the video below. Warning: it contains plenty of yelling and fighting.
