Spanish singer Julio Iglesias is cutting ties with GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump.

Iglesias told Barcelona daily La Vanguardia that he no longer wanted to work with the billionaire politician because of his hostile views toward Mexican immigrants.

“I’ve sang many times in his casinos, but I won’t be doing it again,” Iglesias said in the interview published Wednesday. “He seems like an asshole to me. He thinks he can fix the world by forgetting what immigrants have done for his country. He’s a clown (and my apologies to clowns).”

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Huffington Post.

Trump has lost several high-profile business partnerships since June, when he described Mexican immigrants in broad strokes as “rapists” who are “bringing crime” and "bringing drugs" to the United States.

NBC Universal dropped the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants in June over those comments. Univision likewise discontinued its relationship with the Miss Universe pageant, and the country of Mexico pulled out of the competition.

Trump has repeatedly said that Latino voters will support him despite his denigrating comments -- an outlook that isn’t borne out by polling. Nearly 3 in 4 Latino voters say they view Trump negatively, and 67 percent say they have a “very negative” view of the candidate, according to a poll released last week by NBC News, The Wall Street Journal and Telemundo.

As one of the top-selling performers in the Latin music market, Iglesias’ comments will likely further taint Trump’s image among Hispanic voters.
