Stopping Violence In God's Name: All Together Conversation With Lord Rabbi Jonathan Sacks

Violence in the name of God is not new. Religious conflicts have afflicted almost every part of the world and while often religion is not the root problem, it can add to the conflict by offering a divine mandate or scriptural rationale for hating "the other," whomever they might be. For my guest today, such use of religion verges on blasphemy and he is standing up to religious-based violence saying "not in God's name."

The guest is Lord Rabbi Jonathan Sacks who served as Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth between September 1991 and September 2013. He is the author of 25 books including "The Dignity of Difference," and "The Great Partnership: God, Science and the Search for Meaning." He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2005. Lord Rabbi Sacks joined me in the studio to talk about his latest book: "Not in God’s Name: Confronting Religious Violence."
