Why Rapper Joe Budden Is So Open About His Past With Substance Abuse

The Jersey-bred artist hopes other recovering addicts can learn from his experience.

There's a reason why rapper Joe Budden has been so outspoken about his rocky relationship with controlled substances.

The former "Love and Hip-Hop" star, who spent his teen years in and out of rehab and relapsed in 2012, told HuffPost Live on Friday that he hopes his struggle will help others.

"For me, as a recovering addict, it's important to share [my story] in hopes that somebody can identify with your plight," Budden told host Alex Miranda. "Also, you want to let other people out there know, who might be experiencing the same thing, that they're not alone in that process."
