Photos Of The Eerie Fog That Left European Landmarks Unrecognizable

The fog caused massive flight delays.

An unusually dense fog descended upon parts of Western Europe on Sunday, leading to massive air traffic delays.

More than 1,000 flights on Sunday and Monday had been canceled and others suffered significant delays, including departures from major cities like London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Berlin.

Photos taken around the U.K., France and Germany on Sunday and Monday showed familiar city scenes surrounded by the thick fog. Even the most well-known European landmarks were left unrecognizable in some images.
