Pizza Shop Owner Feeds Dozens After Thanksgiving Note Goes Viral

The community in Springfield, Ohio, came together after Bada Bing! Pizzeria's free meal invite.

A pizza restaurant owner in a small town in Ohio gave a free meal to over 100 people on Thanksgiving after a sign he posted offering to feed anyone in need went viral.

Jason Hague stuck a sign to the front window of his Bada Bing! Pizzeria in Springfield, Ohio, stating that the restaurant would be closed Thursday, as "we will be having dinner here around 2 p.m. with our family, employees, and friends."

"If you are hungry or don't have any money, please come in. We will welcome you and make sure you get plenty to eat," the notice added.

A passerby spotted the kind note and posted a picture of it to Reddit, where it soon went viral and was covered by multiple media outlets.

Hague told Fox 13 before the gesture Wednesday he'd been blown away by the interest he'd received, but was unsure how many people would be turn up for the meal. A visibly touched Hague gave his thanks in a Facebook video message Thursday night to all those who helped.

"Just wanted to say thank you so much for all your thoughts, your prayers, your contributions, your donations," he said.

"We fed about 100 people, we had plenty of food over, we had a lot of people bring in donations, pies, other side items, turkeys, it was amazing.

"I thank you very much, I hope you have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving and look forward to seeing you soon."

The food that was not used was later taken to fire departments and homeless shelters in the Springfield area, according to ABC22.
