Carrie Fisher Is REALLY Not Enjoying Growing Older

Always frank, the Star Wars actress tells it like it is.

Carrie Fisher, whose return to the big screen is imminent as General Leia in the much-anticipated blockbuster Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, was scathingly honest when she told The Daily Mirror, “I look melted and I look my age." The 59-year-old actress-writer added, “Unfortunately, I don’t want to look my age. I would do everything but have serious surgery for it and look like a weird fish with gills.”

Fisher, who returns to her Star Wars' role almost 40 years later, said she feels far from a fantasy figure. She noted that she's always been hounded by Hollywood's emphasis on her appearance and jokes how she's a “failed bulimic,” envious of her actress mother Debbie Reynolds’ figure.

Fisher said, “Appearances are treated like, you know, something; an accomplishment." And she added, "Look, your parents had sex and they were both good-looking. Great for you.” She is the daughter of Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, who left her mother for Elizabeth Taylor in what was a scandalous affair at the time.

Fisher said, "We treat beauty like an accomplishment and that is insane. Everyone in LA says, 'Oh you look good,' and you listen for them to say you’ve lost weight. It’s never 'How are you?' or 'You seem happy!'"
