Kendrick Lamar Unveils New Music During 'Tonight Show' Performance

The rapper also shares why he doesn't want to surpass Michael Jackson's Grammy nomination record.

With 11 Grammy Nominations under his belt and a rumored joint project with J. Cole possibly in the works, Kendrick Lamar is showing no signs of slowing down in the new year.

To keep his momentum from 2015 going, the rapper surprised fans last night by unveiling a new song titled “Untitled 2," during an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Prior to his performance Lamar talked about making history as the most Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist in a single year and his reluctance to surpass Michael Jackson’s Grammy record of 12 nominations.

“I wouldn’t want to go past that,” he told Fallon.“I can’t fathom being as great as Michael without putting out the work, so eleven is perfect. He’s the legend. I’m glad it’s at twelve.”

Check out Kendrick’s performance of “Untitled 2" in the clip above, and his interview below.
