Boy With Cancer Proposes To Favorite Nurse, Makes Us Believe In Love Again

AWW!

A boy who has cancer popped the question to a very special lady in his life.

Gideon Robinson, a 5-year-old who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia last year, has grown close to nurse Sarah Richards while undergoing treatments at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego.

So the 5-year-old decided to make their special bond official and popped the question to his favorite nurse, whom he calls "Tall Sarah," late last month in the most adorable proposal ever, complete with a pipe cleaner ring. The proposal was caught on camera, and after you see it, you'll probably shed tears as though you were witnessing a real engagement.

Watch as the boy briefly rehearses his moves before going to meet Richards. When she sees Gideon, she asks if he wants to have a dance party. But the 5-year-old has other plans in mind. He gets down on one knee and opens up a purple box with the pipe cleaner ring and pops the question.

"Of course you can be my hospital husband!" Richards says in the video, clearly tickled by the 5-year-old's proposal.

According to BuzzFeed News, Richards has been there for the 5-year-old through some of the toughest of times.

“She was the nurse that took care of us through most of his first chunk of time in the hospital,” Sosy Robinson, Gideon's mother, told the outlet. “The nurse that is teaching you how to keep your son alive becomes a very important person.”

Through dance parties and bonding over Legos, the tot fell for the nurse, according to BuzzFeed News. So when Gideon found out through another nurse that Richards wasn't married, he decided to take a leap of faith.

"He immediately said, 'I'll marry her,'" Robinson told CBS News.

After the other nurse supplied him materials, he made the ring out of pink and white pipe cleaner with a purple bead acting as the stone, according to the outlet.

Not only did the magical proposal result in a new boo for Gideon, Robinson told BuzzFeed that it's also helping the boy's family keep their heads up and will hopefully make others smile.

“We could easily cry and act like the world is over, or we can make the most of the cards we are dealt by creating beautiful moments and spreading the love,”
