Historic Photos Show Supreme Court Justices' Funerals Through The Years

The body of Justice Antonin Scalia will lie in repose Friday at the U.S. Supreme Court -- a public event the country hasn't witnessed since 2005, on the occasion of Chief Justice William Rehnquist's death.

People wishing to pay their respects may visit the court between 10:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. A private ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama are also expected at the court on Friday.

A funeral Mass will be held for the associate justice, a devout Catholic, on Saturday in Washington, D.C., at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception -- the largest Roman Catholic church in America. The burial will be private.
