Phones don't usually mix well with washing machines, which is sort of a shame since they're meant to be carried in your pants pocket.

But Samsung's new Galaxy S7 phones -- which have loudly advertised their water resistance -- can apparently withstand a wash cycle. YouTuber Max Lee posted a video Sunday illustrating what happens when you pop an S7 into the washer with some clothes for 45 minutes.

The results might surprise you. The phone, which is in a pretty barebones plastic case, survives the ordeal and appears to still function. Its camera works, the screen isn't cracked, the touchscreen is responsive and so on.

We can't independently confirm these results -- and you probably shouldn't try either -- but it looks like the latest device is a pretty major step forward for phone durability. (Previous models haven't been so lucky.)

Of course, it remains to be seen if the phone will survive a permanent press dryer cycle.
