The Huffington Post Is Looking For A Science Reporter

About the Role:

The Huffington Post is looking for a freelance science editor to join our team temporarily in our New York City office. This is a full-time contract position lasting six months -- from late April through October.

We're looking for someone with a background in health and science journalism, an eye for viral stories, knowledge of SEO, a strong editorial voice, and an ability to accurately and efficiently report on complex scientific topics.

We also want someone who has experience working on short-form videos.

You'll be covering the biggest science stories of the day, with a particular focus on psychology, neuroscience, and human behavior. You'll also be part of our What's Working initiative, which spotlights people and organizations that are working to find solutions to society's biggest problems.

Duties:

  • Reporting and writing daily original articles
  • Pitching and writing enterprise pieces that start conversations
  • Editing science stories written by other editors and reporters
  • Packaging stories with multimedia and clever, shareable headlines
  • Helping produce shareable content for a social media audience
  • Monitoring breaking news and identifying viral stories
