At this point, it doesn't matter how many millions of people follow Kylie Jenner on Instagram or Snapchat -- but let's just say it's a lot.
Certainly, more people follow Jenner than tune into her family's reality series, "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," and it's one of the reasons why she's a social media queen first and a reality star second.
And while she appears to almost literally live on Snapchat, the 18-year-old told Adweek she's probably only on the app for "10 minutes altogether throughout the day" and claims her followers aren't really seeing the the real Kylie Jenner.
"You can't really tell who a person is from, like, an eight-second Snapchat video or an Instagram. I only post on Instagram or Snapchat what I want people to see, you know?" she told the magazine for its Millennial Issue. "But there's a whole other side to me that people don't know."
So who is the real Kylie Jenner?
"I feel like people want to see me have a cool hair color and dress a certain way and have pretty makeup and heels. If they were to see me in public, they would expect me to look like that. It's also fun for me, dressing up. That's always been me, since day one, but it's also exhausting for everyday life."
Exhausting is the perfect word to describe it. Although she only spends 10 minutes of her day on Snapchat, she clearly spends a lot more time and effort creating the camera-ready persona she shares with her followers. Cosmopolitan writer Brooke Shunatona seemed to come to the same conclusion when she tried to live like Jenner for a week this past October, and found that after attempting to recreate her beauty routine, outfits, and lifestyle for seven days, she was "pretty drained by the end." Likewise, BuzzFeed staffer Lara Parker tried to recreate Jenner's Instagram photos this past week and decided that it "wasn't very fun."
So, to sum it up, Kylie Jenner is working harder than you think.
