There's no right or wrong way to grieve and honor the life of a loved one. While some people focus on the future, others hope to remember the past as much as possible.
For Léo Javiel, a professional skateboarder from São Leopoldo, Brazil, a permanent reminder was the perfect tribute for his beloved grandmother.
Javiel's grandmother died in 2012, but he recently rediscovered a handwritten note she left him shortly before her death, reported BuzzFeed.
"I'll be back by noon. Kisses, Grandma," the note read, according to Brazilian newspaper Fato Novo.
He was so touched by the reminder of his grandmother, who helped raise him, that he decided to have the handwritten note tattooed on his body, as a way of commemorating her life.
"Even though you will not come back around noon," Javiel wrote on Instagram in Portuguese. "We'll meet in a next coming ... Love will remain eternal."
In an interview with Brazilian news site Jornal Extra, Javiel said he teared up while receiving the memorial tattoo.
Tiago Lopes, Javiel's tattoo artist, shared in an Instagram caption that he was excited to be a part of the process. "I do a lot of work every day but one in particular was by far the best of all," he wrote.
The image of the tattoo was shared numerous times on Facebook and Instagram and has accumulated tens of thousands of likes.
Javiel now has a daily reminder of his love for his grandmother, and his tattoo, as one fan commented on Instagram is a reminder to all of us to "enjoy every single moment."
