Man Accused Of DWI Crash Wears Worst Possible Shirt

Police are not amused, given the serious nature of the charges.

A 29-year-old New Hampshire man arrested for drunk driving was captured wearing a "this guy needs a beer" t-shirt.

Police took Joshua Tackett into custody on Friday evening on suspicion of crashing his car in front of the police headquarters in Kensington.

His mug shot shows him wearing the slogan shirt in a Facebook post that has gone viral.

Police said Tackett, from nearby Seabrook, was driving southbound on Amesbury Road when he swerved across the northbound lane and slammed into a stone wall and granite post, WCVB 5 reports.

His badly damaged vehicle eventually stopped after it struck a utility pole and got tangled in the wires. Tackett refused treatment for his minor injuries.

"He's incredibly lucky he wasn't seriously injured and fortunate another vehicle wasn't traveling northbound at the time or it could have been catastrophic," Police Chief Scott Sanders told the New Hampshire Union Leader.

Boston.com reports police charged Tackett with driving while intoxicated and released him on $750 bail. Speed and alcohol "appear to be contributing factors to the crash," police said via a statement. He will next appear in the 10th Circuit District Court in Brentwood on Wednesday, reports Seacoastonline.com.

Officers found his slogan t-shirt anything but a laughing matter, given the serious nature of the offense they allege Tackett committed.

"Kensington has experienced an increased number of serious motor vehicle accidents this year, including a rollover accident in February which resulted in three fatalities," the department said in a statement.

"We can't stress enough how important it is for motorist to slow down, put down the hand-held devices, and find designated drivers instead of getting behind the wheel while being impaired by drugs or alcohol."
