Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin seem to speak about their divorce in literally every interview they've given since 2014, but it turns out there's one tiny detail we might not've known about their split.

Paltrow and Martin, the king and queen of conscious uncoupling, broke up earlier than we thought.

"We had broken up a year before we announced it, so we would have this time to work through everything," Paltrow told Red magazine in a new interview. In the statement issued after the two split, the actress and musician alluded to spending some time apart, saying "We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us..."

Paltrow went on to say that the split has not been easy for the two of them, but they've worked as hard as possible to put their children first.

"It’s also almost about having to press the ‘override’ button whenever you feel angry or jealous or whatever, broken-hearted," the "Iron Man 3" actress explained. "You have to press the button -- I’m going back to the baseline of I love this person, he’s the father of my children, he’s a wonderful man. I’m just going to put my shit aside for right now."

Paltrow and Martin were married in 2003 and have two children together, Apple and Moses. Since their uncoupling, Paltrow has been spotted with rumored love interest Brad Falchuk, while Martin was linked to Jennifer Lawrence, Annabelle Wallis and most recently, Heather Graham.
