If you've spent countless hours glued to your screen watching Beyoncé's stunner of a visual album "Lemonade" on repeat, you're likely left with some burning questions. Did Jay Z dare cheat on her majesty the Queen? Was the cinematic masterpiece a more universal ode to black women's experiences? Does Beyoncé ever sleep?
For Lego master builder Veronica Watson, one question reigned supreme: can Bey slay in Lego form as well as in the flesh? Well, thanks to Watson's detailed Lego recreations of the most memorable "Lemonade" moments, the answer is undoubtably yes. Yes, she can.
Watson, whose official title is Legoland Discovery Center Westchester’s Master Model Builder, recreated the most iconic moments from "Lemonade" in painstaking detail, breaking down Beyoncé's jaw-dropping looks and epic moves into tiny, multicolored blocks.
"I loved the challenge of recreating scenes from Beyoncé's 'Lemonade,'" Watson wrote in an email to The Huffington Post. "The album was so visually captivating and I thought Lego bricks could be a really great way to interpret some of her now iconic imagery."
Watson, who is only 24 years old, graduated from the Urban Design and Architecture Studies program at New York University. In her position as master model builder at Legoland Discovery Center in Yonkers, she fixes and conserves lego creations, as well as builds her own. Some of her most imaginative creations to date include Lego replicas of Picasso's "Guernica" and Yoko Ono's "War Is Over, If You Want It."
In an interview with The New York Times, Watson elaborated on the challenge at the core of working with Lego as an artistic medium. "With Lego, you have a limited palette, so to make something you have to analyze it to its simplest form," she said. "You ask, ‘What is the most important thing?’ So when someone looks at it, they recognize it and fill in the blank."
