Bernie Sanders Should Realize Attacks On The Media Have Consequences

His supporters made threatening phone calls to a reporter.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and his campaign team are furious with the media for calling the Democratic presidential race for Hillary Clinton ahead of Tuesday's California primary.

In a Politico story published on Tuesday, Sanders' team lashed out at The Associated Press and other news networks that calculated Clinton had clinched the nomination, calling the decision "appalling," "scandalous," "rigged," "vile," "vicious" and "sneaky."

Sanders himself didn’t mention the development at his rally in San Francisco on Monday night. However, he tore into the "corporate" media and said "it's another issue we have to deal with." Many of the senator's supporters in the crowd shared his disdain for the press, according to The Washington Post.

It shouldn't be so surprising, then, that channeling anger at the press for doing basic delegate math would result in threatening phone calls being made to a New York Times reporter who covers the Democratic primary:

It isn't the first time some Sanders fans have engaged in such behavior. Convinced that the presidential nomination process is rigged and inherently corrupt, several of his supporters sent threatening and sexist text messages and voicemails last month to the chairwoman of the Nevada Democratic Party.
