ICYMI, Blake Lively thinks she has an "L.A. face with an Oakland booty."
Or at least that's how she captioned a photo of herself on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in May, angering a lot of people who felt her use of Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back" lyric was racially insensitive.
(Mind you, this comment was also made after Lively deemed Woody Allen, who allegedly molested his adoptive daughter, to be "empowering for women.")
"The Shallows" actress broke her silence about the controversial caption on Tuesday during a visit to the radio show "Sway in the Morning." Naturally, the Oakland-born SiriusXM host Sway Calloway brought up the Instagram photo and gave Lively the chance to finally explain herself.
"It's something I was proud of," the 28-year-old actress said. "I never meant to offend anyone."
"I was celebrating my body," she added. "It's nice to have a nice curve and not look like you're starving to death."
Lively went on to note that even Sir Mix-A-Lot joined in on the conversation, coming to her defense days after she uploaded the photo.
“I don’t think she’d wear that dress if she thought that booty is horrible -- and to me, it ain’t horrible,” the rapper told New York Daily News in May. “I don’t get it at all. She’s saying she’s proud of her butt. I’m glad she embraced the look, because that’s what I wanted [with the song].”
Addressing his comments, Lively described the rapper as "very defensive and kind" in her radio interview, explaining to Calloway that "it's just about celebrating women's bodies, and that's what I was doing."
