Street Magician Tried To Make Woman's Bikini Disappear, Police Say

This trick was no treat for the victim.

A street magician in Clearwater, Florida, is facing felony battery charges after police said he tried to pull off a woman's bathing suit during a performance.

Richard Cook, 51, was performing Sunday evening when he asked for a volunteer for a trick where he would make a scarf disappear, according to WFLA TV.

A woman in a bikini came forward and Cook asked her to keep her hands out in front of her.

Police said Cook then pulled the woman's bathing suit bottom out from her side.

The woman was able to grab them before Cook exposed her body to the crowd, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The woman reportedly told Cook she did not feel comfortable with the trick.

Pinellas County Sheriff's Office

Cook responded by saying, “you will feel comfortable” and attempted to grab her bottoms again, according to NBC4i.

The victim ran away and reported Cook to nearby police officers.

Cook was arrested and charged with felony battery.

He remains behind bars at the Pinellas County Jail.

Cook's criminal record is apparently more extensive than his magic career. He has been served six stints in Florida State prisons
