A dancing dynasty!
Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd of "Dancing with the Stars" fame confirmed that are expecting their first child together on Wednesday morning.
“I can’t wait to provide this baby with the tools to become a beautiful, kind person,” Chmerkovskiy, who proposed to Murgatroyd on the dance floor in 2015, exclusively told People.
The professional dancers, who have dated on and off since 2012, have become one of the most beloved couples to come out of ABC's reality competition series. Murgatroyd now stands as the most recent winner of the coveted mirror ball trophy, which she has won twice, having ushered model Nyle DiMarco into "DWTS" glory in May.
In fact, Murgatroyd revealed that she felt "so sick" during Season 22, as she only discovered she was pregnant weeks into filming. But with another trophy in hand and Chmerkovskiy by her side, the 29-year-old Australian is adjusting to pregnancy.
“I’m looking forward to nurturing something and just having the baby be the center of our world,” Murgatroyd said. “I’m looking forward to putting all our energy into this beautiful soul.”
As for the couple's upcoming nuptials, Chmerkovskiy and Murgatroyd are still aiming to wed in the summer of 2017, timing that Murgtroyd describes as "perfect."
“I’ll have the baby in January and then I’ll still have about six months to prepare for the wedding.”
Just enough time for baby Chmergatroyd to nail down the fundamentals of the foxtrot, ballroom and ballet.
