9 Famous Black Parents Share Emotional Responses To Tragic Week

"What will my brown son's future be?" -- Halle Berry

In the span of just one week, the news of three deadly shootings have rocked the nation.

Early Tuesday morning, Alton Sterling, a 37-year-old black man, was shot and killed by a Baton Rouge police officer while selling CDs outside of a convenience store. The next day, another black man, 32-year-old Philando Castile, was shot and killed by a police officer at a traffic stop in Falcon Heights, Minnesota. And on Thursday night, at least five police officers were killed in Dallas in an ambush-style shooting.

As communities across the United States struggle to come to terms with these acts of violence, the overwhelming feeling among black parents is uncertainty about how to explain these incidents to their kids and fear that they can’t keep their children safe. From Solange Knowles to Kevin Hart, here are 9 celebrities’ reactions on this tragic week.
