A Pennsylvania mother and her friend have been accused of driving with the woman’s two young children stuffed in the trunk of a red Corvette.

A witness called 911 after allegedly seeing Jessica Marie Reger, 29, packing the children into the trunk of the car at about 8:40 p.m. on July 10, the York Dispatch reports.

Reger and 28-year-old Ilena Gale Blackburn, who was reportedly driving the vehicle, were traveling on West Middle Street in Hanover, Pennsylvania, when authorities pulled them over.

An officer asked Blackburn to open the trunk and found Reger’s 3-year-old and 5-year-old children inside, according to PennLive.

“The credit goes to the concerned citizen who took notice [of] what happened and called 911 and gave detailed information,” Hanover Borough Police Department Police Chief Chad Martin told PennLive. “Our officer was fortunate to be in area, and was able to observe the car and make the stop.”

The children were not injured, police said.

Blackburn has been charged with recklessly endangering another person and improper child-restraint system. Reger has been charged with endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person.

The Hanover Borough Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Huffington Post.
