Even The UK's Most Prominent Immigration Opponent Thinks Trump Is 'Out There'

Nigel Farage, who is at the RNC in Cleveland, added that he's not surprised Trump won the nomination.

Nigel Farage, formerly the leader of the UK Independence Party and one of the leading advocates for Britain’s departure from the European Union, bashed Donald Trump, the official Republican nominee for president, during an appearance at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday.

“I’ve been called over the top once or twice but I think some of Donald Trump’s comments are pretty out there,” Farage said about the business mogul, whose nomination was confirmed Tuesday night.

“When he gets condemned by everybody, rather than retracting, he goes a little bit further,” he added.

Farage said he wouldn’t throw his “full-throated support” behind Trump, but wasn’t surprised by his nomination.

He also took the opportunity to lambast presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton. He criticized the Clintons’ sense of entitlement, saying that “People need to move on.”

“I wouldn’t vote for Hillary if you paid me,” Farage added.

Farage also claimed that he’s grateful to President Barack Obama for being “rude” to Brits when he visited the U.K. recently because it fostered greater support for Brexit ― which he dubbed the “Obama bounce.”

“Thank you to Obama for helping us win this referendum,” he said.

Farage served as the leader of Britain’s euro-sceptic and conservative UK Independence Party until early July, when he stepped down post-Brexit saying he had achieved what he set out to do in leading the U.K. out of the EU.

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims ― 1.6 billion members of an entire religion ― from entering the U.S.
