At 113, The Oldest American Alive Still Lies About Her Age

Ms. Adele, you don't look a day over 90!

Adele Dunlap of Hunterdon County, N.J. got an unexpected ― and arguably an unwelcome ― promotion this month. With the July 8 passing of Goldie Michelson of Worcester, Mass., Dunlap became the oldest person in our nation of 324 million. But despite documents putting her age at 113, Dunlap insisted to NorthJersey.com that she is a mere 104.

Apparently she has always been one of those gals who shaves a few years off her age.

Dunlap, who is known as “Ms. Adele” at the Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown where she has lived since she was 99, was asked by NorthJersey.com how it felt to be 113. She looked her questioner in the eye and answered: “I’m 104.” While we’d never want to argue with a lady about her age, NorthJersey.com reported that the Gerontology Research Group validated her age at 113. If it’s any consolation, there are still nine people older than her in the world, including 116-year-old Emma Morano-Martinuzzi of Italy.

As for Dunlap, she’s a Jersey girl through and through.
