In the first minute of his Republican National Convention speech on Thursday, Donald Trump officially accepted the GOP presidential nomination. An hour and 16 minutes, plenty of doom and gloom, a few big promises and one protester disruption later, he wrapped it up, breaking a record for the longest nomination acceptance speech in recent history.

Just after the hour mark, he was already headed for greatness.

C-SPAN later made it official.

Congratulations, Donald Trump. You did it! Your speech is longer than both Bill Clinton’s and George W. Bush’s.

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims ― 1.6 billion members of an entire religion ― from entering the U.S.
