Kate Hudson, pop star?

The “Deepwater Horizon” actress appeared on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon Tuesday night and made it clear that she wants to make music.

“I’ve always been scared of making music, because I like authentic [songs]. I like music that feels really honest. I love pop music,” Hudson said, via E! “But I write music and it’s super depressing. I just kind of feel like it’d be like, ‘Oh, Kate’s gonna do ― Whoa! What is that?’”

Hudson has showed off her musical chops before, notably when she belted out Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” at a children’s benefit in May. The actress also sang as part of her reoccurring “Glee” guest spot and her role in the movie “Nine.”

Hudson knows what people inevitably might say about another actress-musician crossover, and she doesn’t care one bit.

“I want to do it. I think I’m just going to do it for the sake of doing it and see how it turns out. Why not?” the 37-year-old told Fallon. “I’m old enough now where it doesn’t really matter anymore. Music is my life, and it’s my first love.”
