Over the weekend, Arnold Schwarzenegger attended Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, with his teenage son Joseph Baena ― and it looks like they had a ball.

The former California governor shared a sweet Instagram photo for his son’s birthday, which shows the two wearing lederhosen and holding steins of beer.

“Happy birthday, Joseph,” the 69-year-old actor and politician wrote. “Great student, great athlete. I’m proud of you and I love you!”

Schwarzenegger’s history with his now 19-year-old son is complicated. While still married to Maria Shriver, the actor carried on an affair with Baena’s mother, Mildred Patricia Baena, who worked as the family’s housekeeper for 20 years and retired in 2011.

After news broke that Schwarzenegger and Baena had a child, the actor announced that he and Shriver were splitting after 25 years of marriage and four children together.

“After leaving the governor’s office, I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago,” the actor said in a statement issued to the Los Angeles Times at the time. “I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family.”

Schwarzenegger opened up about his family in a 2015 interview with Howard Stern, sharing a few words about his son Joseph.

“He’s terrific and he totally understands the situation and all that,” the actor said. “It’s a very tough situation for him. It’s a very tough situation for my kids, very tough situation for my family. It’s tough for everybody. But it has happened and now we have to figure it out, right?”
