Milhouse Predicted Monday's Nobel Prize Winner Back In 2010

How many times has "The Simpsons" pulled this off?

Would you expect anything less? It turns out that Milhouse Van Houten, that bespectacled blue-haired friend of Bart Simpson, predicted that Bengt Holmström of MIT would win the Nobel Prize in Economics all the way back in 2010, during the Season 22 episode “Elementary School Musical.”

And on Monday, Holmström did just that, along with Oliver Hart of Harvard, for their research on contracts, as MIT noted on Twitter.

Unfortunately, “The Simpsons” didn’t quite get this one quite right, as the episode had Martin’s choice of Jagdish Bhagwati winning out over Milhouse’s. But hey, they’ve predicted enough things right in the past to win themselves the right to a little wiggle room here and there.
