Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is a liar and a schemer, according to former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Yet the ardent campaigner for Clinton’s Republican rival, Donald Trump, offered no evidence to back up his wild accusations Tuesday.
Giuliani claimed during an appearance on “Fox & Friends” that Clinton lied to the FBI about her private email server. And he insisted that the former secretary of state “cooked” the bureau report with the help of her husband, former President Bill Clinton.
The FBI released a summary of its investigation into the email system in September. But Giuliani told Fox the findings were “cooked in advance when Bill and [Attorney General] Loretta Lynch all of a sudden met on an airplane to talk about their grandchildren.”
Lynch and the former president did in fact meet aboard a private plane in June, which reignited concerns that the Department of Justice would have difficulties conducting an unbiased investigation into Clinton’s email server.
Giuliani has accused Clinton of lying to the FBI and the agency of having missed the warning signs in the past. But he’s never accused them of having outright rigged the system.
He called the investigation, which found Clinton not guilty, “totally astounding.”
“She doesn’t know the meaning of [confidential] when she’s asked by the FBI,” he said. “The number of people who have taken the fifth amendment around her ... I don’t know how she can have a staff.”
Giuliani also slammed Clinton during his“Fox & Friends” appearance for being “unethical” and using “dirty tricks,” like paying people to break up Trump rallies.
Trump himself called out unnamed people who “control” the media, the polls, the economy and the FBI Monday during a campaign stop in Florida.
With 14 days until Election Day, Giuliani praised the Trump campaign’s enthusiasm and foreshadowed a few tricks to come.
“We’ve got a couple of surprises left,” he said.
Clinton is currently polling at 49 percent, while Trump trails at 41 percent, according to HuffPost Pollster.
