CBS is reportedly eyeing a “Big Bang Theoryspinoff series that will focus on Sheldon Cooper (played by Jim Parsons), according to Entertainment Weekly.

The outlet notes the spinoff is in its very early stages and Parsons is the only main cast member attached so far. The Huffington Post has reached out to a rep for Parsons for more information, while a representative at CBS declined to comment.

The new series will apparently be a prequel centered around Cooper as a 12-year-old child prodigy, according to Deadline. EW reports Parsons will act as the show’s executive producer, along with current “Big Bang” EPs Bill Prady, Chuck Lorre and showrunner Steve Molaro.

“The Big Bang Theory,” which has been the No. 1 comedy on TV for the past six years, is currently in its 10th season. Many believe the current season will be its last.

Kunal Nayyar, who plays Rajesh Koothrappali on the series, spoke about the show’s future at MCM Comic-Con London this past summer.

“To be completely honest ... I know people are gonna want to know what happens after Season 10. I don’t know what’s going to happen,” he said, per CinemaBlend.

Nayyar’s comments echoed a statement made by Molaro, who told The Hollywood Reporter in 2015, “The reality is that maybe Season 10 is the ending point.”

“The real answer is I don’t know and all I can do right now is go episode to episode and try to make each one the best that we can,” he added.
