Samantha Bee Lambasts Ohio's Anti-Abortion 'Fetal Heartbeat' Bill

"At six weeks, most women won’t even know they're pregnant..."

Samantha Bee broke down exactly what she thinks is wrong with Ohio’s proposed tightening of its abortion laws on Monday.

Following a lengthy attack on the seemingly nonstop “shit geyser” of news concerning President-elect Donald Trump, the “Full Frontal” host turned her attention to what could become the most extreme abortion restriction in America. Ohio’s GOP-led House and Senate passed legislation last week banning abortions when a fetal heartbeat can be detected ― as early as six weeks into a pregnancy.

“Six weeks, what the hell, Ohio?” asked Bee. “At six weeks, most women won’t even know they’re pregnant, especially now, since every time we realize Trump is president, we all have morning sickness.”

“If these assaults on legal abortion don’t stop, the only window for terminating a pregnancy will be when the unsuccessful candidates are drying on your inner thigh,” she added.

Bee then pointed to the fact that even Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R), a prominent opponent of abortion, had concerns that it may be unconstitutional. “And this is a man who puts his signature and countless condiment stains on every anti-abortion bill that lands on his desk.” Kasich has yet to indicate whether he would sign the bill.

“Overturning Roe has always been the pro-lifers wet dream,” Bee said, “and the way things are going it’s a wet dream that may soon be required by law to have a full and dignified burial.”
