Designer Stefano Gabbana is taking back his unnecessary criticism of Lady Gaga’s body.

The younger half of design duo Dolce & Gabbana said he was among those who shockingly critiqued Gaga’s appearance during her incredible Super Bowl performance Sunday night. Though his initial thoughts weren’t public, Gabbana explained his change of heart in an Instagram post earlier this week.

“I know it’s strange, but finally something real not retouched!” he wrote. “The truth, reality. Yesterday I [criticized] it too, but I though about it and I was wrong!!! #real

Commenters didn’t let Gabbana off the hook, and called him out for criticizing her in the first place.

“Stefano you have a lot to say about a lot of things you are definitely closed minded and clueless about,” Instagram user jjd3319 wrote. “You love calling people fat. First Adele now Gaga. Taking it back because of the backlash is such a PR move. You said it, and you meant it. You are part of the problem.”

Another user, who goes by yasilios, simply wrote, “Stefano you are a moron.”

On Tuesday, Lady Gaga addressed body shamers in an Instagram post, shutting down the ugly comments with an inspirational message to her fans.

“I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I’m proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too,” the singer wrote. “No matter who you are or what you do. I could give you a million reasons why you don’t need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed. Be you, and be relentlessly you. That’s the stuff of champions. Thank you so much everyone for supporting me.”

Yes, Gaga!
