One lucky fan will have the chance to own a piece of hip-hop history, thanks to Tupac’s handwritten lyrics of his hit song “ Dear Mama.”
The late rapper’s lyrics to the 1995 single are currently on the market via MomentsInTime.com for $75,000, TMZ reported. The memorabilia site, which purchases and sells original letters, manuscripts and signed photos of notable people, acquired the late rapper’s lyric sheets from a private collector in Poland.
The chart-topping song was featured on Shakur’s 1995 multi-platinum album, “Me Against the World,” and was an ode to his mother, Afeni Shakur, who died from a heart attack last May. In 2010, the track was inducted into the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry, which called the song a “moving and eloquent homage to both the murdered rapper’s own mother and all mothers struggling to maintain a family in the face of addiction, poverty and societal indifference,” according to Reuters.
A number of Pac’s personal items have made the rounds on auction and memorabilia sites, including his personal RIAA multi-platinum sales plaque for “Me Against the World,” a bullet-dented pendant he was wearing during his 1994 shooting in New York, and the BMW automobile in which the rapper was fatally killed during a 1996 Las Vegas shooting.
The rapper’s long-awaited biopic, “All Eyez on Me,” will hit theaters on his birthday, June 16.
