Stephen Colbert Tears Into The Trump Administration's Paranoia

"We’re not happy about it either, by the way."

Stephen Colbert poked fun at the paranoia that’s reportedly engulfing the White House on Tuesday.

The “Late Show” referenced a report on Politico that claimed President Donald Trump’s staffers were “keeping mum” in meetings over fears their foes would leak their comments to the press.

“I have some bad news,” Colbert said. “It didn’t work, because your foes have leaked your mum-staying.”

Colbert dissected the security precautions that some staffers are reportedly taking with their cell phones, before suggesting their paranoia could just be down to growing pains in the new administration.

“You went to Washington, you went to work for Trump because you wanted to tear down the government,” Colbert said. “Now you have to deal with it. Now you are the government.”

The comedian likened the administration to a dog that now has to drive the car after spending years chasing it.

“We’re not happy about it either, by the way,” he added. “Remember, we’re in the backseat of a car being driven by a dog now.”
