Seth Meyers pointed out the similarities between the U.S. political climate under President Donald Trump and the TV show “The Americans” on Tuesday.

The “Late Night” host said fans of the FX spy thriller would find “some subtle parallels” if they went back and watched certain clips ― such as when General Viktor Zhukov said in the pilot episode, “The American people have elected a madman as their president.”

“OK, now obviously it took place in the 1980s and he was talking about Ronald Reagan, but it sure sounds like it could be Trump today,” Meyers said.

He noted that “if you watch the parts of the show that are in Russian, the similarities are even more noticeable.” He then played out some parody clips that (kinda) proved his point.
