After PA the media spent a week focused on Obama not gaining ground in rural white areas -- now he's improved those numbers and you hear a thing about it.
So Barack Obama is back. The results on Tuesday did not provide the "game changer" Hillary Clinton so desperately needed. Instead, Obama built on his leads in delegates and the popular vote. His aides pointed to May 20 as the day when he will clinch a majority of elected delegates, essentially becoming the party's presumptive nominee. And that's not all.
In Indiana, Obama improved his support across several key demographics, despite a bruising month of attacks on his pastor, patriotism and populism. Compared to Ohio and Pennsylvania, he generally drew more votes from white women, Catholics, gun owners, households earning under $50,000 annually, voters prioritizing the economy, and voters without a college degree. A Democratic field operative sent in this graph of the progress:

And in Obama's remarks in North Carolina, he spoke about beating back the attack politics that sideline important issues:
Yes, we know what's coming. We've seen it already. The same names and labels they always pin on everyone who doesn't agree with all their ideas. The same efforts to distract us from the issues that affect our lives by pouncing on every gaffe and association and fake controversy in the hope that the media will play along... This is what they will do - no matter which one of us is the nominee. The question, then, is not what kind of campaign they'll run, it's what kind of campaign we will run. It's what we will do to make this year different. I didn't get into race thinking that I could avoid this kind of politics, but I am running for President because this is the time to end it.

GOOD NEWS FOR AMERICA
The Anti-Obama, Anti-Wright, and Anti-Clinton GOP Model Has Been Tested --
And It Failed .Prove some people know the MSM can't fool everyone
Please read trhe truth about McCain and his connection tt the oil lobby before you critize Obama
U are paying more for food Gas and the WAR under the GOP
Her need to win the WH, I think, has a lot to do with the legal 'shit' their in, the need to be 'protected' from the prosecutors all over the country and other countries, waiting for this election season to be over to settle in to the 'big' cohonas....Bill and Hillary Clinton, to join many associate's in the big house. And, I don't mean the WH.
The look on 'unworthy' president clinton's face.....was so telling. The clinton's are afraid, afraid their 'rich's' will eat up all their 'laundering money' going to be broke defending themselves. This is priceless. He looked like he was doing something in his pant's. That's arrogance, when the bullying, destruction of people catch's up with you.
To see that face, was worth it.
northcan --
LMFAO! Great description of Bill (pooping in his pants)!
I never thought of their using the WH as cover from all their legal -- or illegal, as the case may be -- shit, but it sure makes sense. They are just low enuf to do something slimey like that.
How does it feel to write a posting with no facts or honesty?
...yep, as an edwards backer , i'll state its time for corporatist/republican lite clintons to take their tedious act and $109,000,000 and go home....hillary is just too sympatico and cozy with mccainism...which is at most a baby step to the center of the grim abomination of bushco...so its time for the clintons and their coiterie of sycophants ( e.g. carville) to fade into history...and its time--sooner than later i say--- for obama to pick richardson , a charismatic. experienced and very viable naitonal face as VP in an all-minoroity ticket to drive the right wing racist media ranters like limbaugh, o'reilly and hannity nuts and also to lock up , via richardson's formidable clout as a hispanic, new mexico, colorado and nevada...meaning game, set and white house to the dems!!!!!!
Couldn't have said it better CatfishJohn; by the way, they found another $24 mil. they forgot to report. Richardson would make a wonderful V.P. Wouldn't that scorch the pant's off these two political idiot's? Carville...knowone can help him, Lanny Davis, Paul Begala, Wolfson, Kiki McLean ...........Evan Bayh, they took the wrong train, on the wrong track to nowhere.
The demographics of Indiana worked in Obama's favor. PA is ultra traditional. As you go west across the country from PA, the pioneer spirit kicks in. The center of business/population shifted from the New York/Philly area to the midwest quite a few years ago. Diversity does not divide so much as we travel west. No research or generalizability. Just my perceptions as a PA traveler in these United States, well over 100,000 miles by car and camping. I like the graph. Thanks
Actually, it's not a faltering of division as you go west, but a faltering of diversity, period, save in the major city. The north is rather homogenous, the south a little more diverse, but with 70-some recognized dialects and all sorts of pre-industrial or low-tech types, the Internet isn't reached by those who most need it in order to make an even partially objective decisions because they see the least of the world around them and its numerous peoples.
However, a lot of the non-city PA is full of surprises, of course, and an avid attention for local needs and hard work at every level. It does seem that the elderly population in particular, and many women, voted for Hillary because she was more familiar and they've never seen the Internet, or because of gender loyalty. I couldn't tell you how many people (mostly older) discussed proudly how they knew nothing about Obama, or believed he was some foreign Muslim; but admitted proudly that they knew nothing about Hillary and her policy decisions or background, either, merely expecting her to be a repeat of her husband in office or voting for her only based on her gender.
egal you mention the internet, good point.
Obama is CORRUPT, a LIAR, and his slogan of change an ILLUSION.
1) CORRUPT: A houseowner wants to sell both a house and adjoining land. Obama can afford to buy only the house. No problem, the criminal Rezko to the rescue. Rezko pays full price for the land, whereas Obama gets a discount of $300,000 on the house. Nice to have criminal friends like this!!! (ref ABC News)
2) LIAR: Obama claims he did not know about Wright's America-hating (God damn America) and racist views till it was revealed in the mainstream media in March 2008. Obama attended Wright's church for 20 years, was married by Wright, had his children baptized by Wright, donated over $20,000 to Wright's church and named his book "Audacity of Hope" after one of Wright's sermons. You really believe after 20 years and all this he did not know?
3) ILLUSION: Exelon Corporation had not disclosed radioactive leaks at one of its nuclear plants in Illinois. Obama, a senator for Illinois introduces a bill to make disclosures mandatory. Seems like Exelon doesn't like it. Each draft of the new bill by Obama goes more and more towards Exelon till disclosures end up being "voluntary". What gives? How about $250,000+ donations by Exelon!!! Obama is not change, he is WASHINGTON BUSINESS AS USUAL. (ref NYT)
People need to realize that Hillary has been fighting for them all along. All the way back to 1993 when she tried to introduce universal health care.
Whew.
So, basically, you're assuming Obama's corrupt and a liar because of acquaintances whom he knew only in a single, work-related and limited capacity without grilling them about their every belief and tracking their every move to learn about other aspects of their beliefs and personal, political, racial, and fiscal activites;
and you're characterizing his change as illusion because of the need to make concessions in order to get a specific bill passed, while failing to recognize that they did not directly fund him, but always sent money to the state's senator, no matter who it was?
ROFLMAO.
For a moment there, I thought you must have no understanding whatsoever of the:
very minimal but trust-based relationship between a home-buyer and their agent that means most of us don't check our agents' bank statements, only their sales;
way people honor their pastors for their parsing of the Bible and their giving of themselves to others, but aren't intimately aware of and aligned with those pastors' political beliefs and issues barely, reasonably, mentioned in front of the church if at all;
adversity faced in trying to get any bill passed that puts limits on the rich and powerful such that compromises must be made or the bill dies.
....But that's a good joke, bringing up Hillary at the end. Her healthcare reform efforts were doomed by her own betrayal of the little guy in order to benefit the insurance companies who paid her off.
Bill and Hillary we're fighting like hell for African Americans. fighting to put more of them in prison than any other president in recent history. Fighting to make sure urban school were as underfunded as possible. fighting to make sure that blue collar jobs would go away so that white blue collar workers would blame blacks and browns for "taking their jobs". And fighting to appease the neo cons and eliminate welfare without replacing it with comparable educational opportunities. Bill and Hillary have truly shown their love.
You have not included a single bit of truth or honesty in your posting. How does it feel to be so dishonest?
1) The Chicago press has cleared Obama MULTIPLE TIMES in anything that has anything to do with Rezko. The owners of the home debunked this shit months ago: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601103&sid=a_9sOMpy91Js&refer=us.
2) Barack never said he hadn't heard the reverend make what some might consider controversial remarks. Trinity and Wright are two different things. Barack and his family donated to the church to further their ministry efforts. Finally, nothing Wright said is "America hating" and no one with an ounce of intelligence thinks that it is. Have you even read a transcript of the sermon? http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/03/for-the-record.html.
3) Barack doesn't tell Exelon how to conduct business. Here is a pretty comprehensive story on it: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/03/us/politics/03exelon.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin. He changed the bill for many reasons, only one of which was Exelon's influence over Senate republicans. That Exelon - one of his state's largest employers - employees donate to him is not the same thing has PAC contributions to Hillary.
Hillary has a history of doing NOTHING, even with unlimited resources. She couldn't reform health care with a democratic president AND Congress. She wouldn't use long-term goals to guide short term compromise. She is not nearly as good as the myth would have you believe.
You need to do more research on Hillary's record in the Senate. It's easy: http://thomas.loc.gov.
It seems Obama supporters are incapable of telling the truth.
Obama said he had never heard Rev. Wright say anything controversial in his sermons. And you may not find anything the Rev. said as America-hate, but some of his sermons have been filled with hate and racism.
The Clintons have also been cleared of any legal problems, but that has not prevented Obama supporters from making a number of false claims.
Jay, I need you to scroll up a bit... See that yellowish block with Obama's quote? Here, I'll paste it so YOU CAN READ IT THIS TIME: "I didn't get into race thinking that I could avoid this kind of politics, but I am running for President because this is the time to end it."
Now Jay, READ IT AGAIN.
Every time you're compelled to slur someone, READ IT AGAIN.
Nuff said.
If Obama was so interested in ending the sort of politiccs he has criticized why has he been so willing to engage in such attacks? He was the first to go negative, not Ms. Clinton.
The best candidate has won the race! Now forget about all that Kitchen sink stuff! If you are a democrat get on the Obama express... next stop? The White house! If you are a Repug... go get a shower and an exorcism... and come back to the light!
Enough already-- game over.
I really was cynical about the voters out there. I thought alot of people were going to be convinced by Hillary's gas-tax bull, and swayed by the media's Wright infatuation.
I'm glad I was wrong.
I was actually very disappointed in the exit polling data. I didn't see any questions asking opinions on the holiday.
But they certainly asked about Wright! Nothing but the issues.
ditto.... not to be confused with ditto head
Whomever wins the democratic nomination, I hope that the democrats realize that we need to unite, and make sure that no matter what, McCain does not win. Because that will means a never ending Iraq war, an economy which will continue a downward spiral. Also McCain does not plan to renogotiate Nafta, McCain thinks NAFTA is just fine the way it is. McCain has no plans to try to renegotiate the trade deal with China. McCain also thinks that trade deal s just fine the way it is. McCain also DOES NOT plan to give tax breaks to the those who need it the most. So if you are financially suffering now, it is only going to get worst.
What makes Hillary so obsessed with winning the nomination? Am I the only one that notices that?
At times, she looks as though she is scared to death. Why?
You would be obsessed to if you stuck with a cheating lying husband for 3 decades and it didn't get you what you really wanted.
I imagine if anyone spent as much time and money looking into your life as the GOP spent on Bill and Hillary they'd find something bad. Then again, probably not, you might just be a boring sort of Obama supporter.
Why is she obsessed to an almost "Ahab-like" degree? I saw a bit of a biography on her. I ain't no psychologist, but I would say, check out her upbringing. Our parents create the adults we are. From the little I saw , she apparently wasn't allowed to fail as a child. Shame on her parents! She wasn't born being like she is. IMHO.
The only question is will Hillary finally drop out now?
Well Thank You North Carolina After months of mud slinging , the Nominee can take a day off , Take a shower, get to know his wife and little girls again, sleep in in the morning and get ready to take on McSame.
YES WE CAN
Thank you very much North Carolina and Indiana. You guys both are wonderful!!
Thank you North Carolina and Indiana. Hopefully this will be the end of this vicious woman. My husband and I celebrated with a bottle of french wine from 1978. Here's to you Obama!..cheers!
It's time, ladies and gents.
It's time to play, 'TAKE BACK YOUR GOVERNMENT'!!
It's time to get a hold of our under-informed friends and family, and organize for the big fight! The fight for the survival of the middle class! Countdown to November JUST BEGUN.
Go Progressives, and GOBAMA!
Obama is certainly making in-roads into a number of different groups. So, is Senator Obama electable? In other words, can he win the rural poor white gun-owner as compared with the urban voter, given that the MSM is trying to portray the rural vote as huge?
But wait a minute! Is the rural poor white, blue-collar American who represents the real America just a myth--another myth created by the MSM who have a penchant for not vetting their opinions?
The MSM needs to stop taking the blue pill (The Matrix) and change to the red pill. Presently, America is pretty much an urban, service-based economy. Americans primarily live in the suburbs (50%) and the cities (30%) which means that 80% live in urban areas. As for the rustic blue-collar worker, he makes up 20%--not a huge number.
GOD'S VOICE HAS BEEN HEARD TONIGHT....AMERICA!!!!!!
God is dead...
didn't you hear?
It sure would be nice if god would stay out of our politics.
I agree...and to think he's not even a citizen!
I certainly hope not... the last time God was heard in this nation he was telling W to invade Iraq.
