I like that side of Mike Gravel; he has a wonderful sense of humor.
Totally hip Mike!! Go's to show, there's more than one way to look at politics.
good for gravel: he has a quality more politicians, and maybe people in general, could use: the ability to laugh at himself.
Mike who?
Gravel would have been my candidate of choice had he had the financial backing to make a real go of it. Just one more reason in my book why campaign funding should be capped.
I was secretly hoping for a miracle and the announcement of an Obama/Gravel ticket, but I think that Mike's really put paid to any white house aspirations he may have had with that one.
I think the running mate Obama picks will be a surprise to many and I wouldn't rule out Republicans appointed in his cabinet.
What a saga! Mike Gravel should get the Oscar!
Awwww man. I'm for Obama, but if this guy had a genuine chance, I'd totally vote for him.
There's really something to be said about someone willing to do something like this.
Awww. My heart's totally melted.
If everyone that liked him voted for him, maybe he would have a chance.
"The way you lay pipe is incredibly hot."
hahaha....very cute and funny.....thanks for the laugh....
I loved it. Very funny. My favorite part was when he starting doing the March Dance with the crowd
What I respect the most about Mike is his sense of humor- not only does he have far more substantive views on the issues than any other candidate running, but he's not afraid to have a little fun. Could you see any other candidate even attempting this, let alone pulling it off with aplomb?
But seriously, check out Gravel's stands- his is the real Straight Talk, he's the real non-partisan maverick in this election, and while I was surprised at his decision to run libertarian, I'm crossing my fingers for him to get the nomination!
I would love to actually see Kucinich/Gravel in the white house. Media portryed them both as nuts but they talk straight and make sense. Not to mention, Kucinich has to be doing something right to win over that wife of his.
I second that. Kucinich and Gravel all the way.
That makes three of us.
(Unfortunately, that's probably about it...)
While I currently support Obama, I found Kucinich's and Gravel's platforms the most appealing. Gravel just comes off as a whack job no matter what his position.......because he doesn't give a damn what people think of the way he phrases issues. You gotta love the guy for that.....funny video.
Gravel is still in it. Why compromise on your beliefs to support Obama, when you can still support Gravel?

Because Gravel 2008 is going to end up being another Nader 2000, fucking things up for everyone.
Spoilers happen because of a system designed to put Democrats and Republicans at an advantage. If the Dems or Reps wanted to fix it, they could, but right now only third parties are addressing the spoiler problem, with solutions like Instant Runoff Voting. The Dems and Reps are in it for themselves, they both benefit from spoilers, so you will not see a Democrat or Republican working to fix our system.
You mean the voters who have a different point of view. Keep you spoiler propaganda to yourself, that is total bunk!
Had to support Obama because I was too afraid of the candidate that is truly the whack job of the bunch.
This video is pathetic. Obama Girl DID NOT EVEN VOTE when she had the chance. Same old song with an old guy, Mike Gravel though I like Gravel. Cannot say the same for Obama Girl. Whatever happened to Rudy Girl? Did he leave her at the airport like he did with the press in FL. Just left and did not tell them that they needed to find their own way home. Class...................
Obama '08
Actually I believe Obama girl DID vote - she was registered in PA, NOT NY as most folks thought (she has dual-residency).
No wonder Hillary, Edwards and Obama wanted to limit participation. Here's a different approach.
Wow. Just really, really funny. I think I honestly love Mike Gravel. There's one US Senator (who's liberal record is unimpeachably honorable) I wouldn't mind having a drink with.
Hi, I'm Mike Gravel. My entire campaign is based upon me being as nutty as your uncle that you always carefully avoid to invite to Thanksgiving dinner. The core of my campaign is yelling at the other candidates to get off my lawn, and that they all have no specifics, when all the specifics that you'd want are right there on the other candidates' websites, carefully maintained and kept up to date. And if you were to compare my stance on the issues with the two Democratic frontrunners stances, I wouldn't really be all that far off anyway. Plus, if I really wanted to know these things, I could actually sit down and ask the other candidates, but I have more banking on my 0 delegates so I just would rather get onto radio talk shows and toss out pointless insults without offering up any real specifics of my own, except that now I'm a Libertarian, so I can't really have a position on free trade or tariffs or else I don't get to be the Libertarian candidate. I'm also even older than John McCain, which pretty much means that I'll be senile in a couple years even if I were to be elected to office...if I'm not senile right now.
You clearly have no idea what you are talking about, and are completely ignorant either on what the Democratic candidates views are or what Gravel's views are. And I've tried to plow through both Hillary and Obama's platforms, and find a lot of words that add up to almost nothing, while meanwhile Gravel presents constructive ideas on how to go about ending the Iraq War, instituting national health care, overhauling the tax structure, and involving the people more directly in government. While I don't agree with all of it, they are provocative and interesting ideas that stimulate thought, as opposed to the bland status-quo of both Hillary and Obama.
I encourage anyone who has heard this same talk about Gravel to go and see what his stands actually are, and then try to say they are not substantive and well thought out. He never had the chance to say what his views really are because the media and the Democrats were determined to push him out the door as fast as they could.
You, my friend, are the one who offers no specifics as to why you dislike Gravel.
He dislikes Gravel because of being spoon-fed nonsense from all of the media. I completely agree with your assessment of Gravel.....but I still felt Kucinich's platform was a little more compelling.
See, i had issues with Kucinich's "Department of Peace" thing- it seemed unnecessary-really what we need is Department of Defense, not a Department of Aggression-and alot of Kucnich's ideas were too pseudo-socialist, especially about health care. What I like about Gravel is that he takes progressive goals anf tries to find creatively practical ways to institute them without increasing bureaucracy or taxes. But there is plenty to like in both men!
McCain is the batshit crazy uncle everyone avoids at family reunions....
yeah, he did something special once a LONG LONG time ago but lately all he does is rant and rave about everything - meanwhile he can't even remember where he put his keys..... probably a good thing, have you seen him driving lately?!?!?! OMG.... frightening
You CAN be TOO OLD for some things.....
McCain will get a phone call at 3AM and mumble "Nuke Iran" .........."But Mr. President, we're calling about the crisis in Honduras......" "So what...... I said NUKE IRAN......"
That's funnee
"batshit crazy uncle everyone avoids at family reunions"
This has to be the best description of him I have ever heard. LOL
Actually, he is way different on the issues than those two other corporate candidates! Gravel also has very detailed plans on real change ie: National Initiative for Democracy. Mike Gravel has experience, creditability, and integrity. He is more of a national hero than any of those other 3 MSM goobers. His resume as a Senator is golden (Pentagon Papers, Alaska Pipeline, opened relationship with China, etc)
So the man is a little unorthodox and I don't agree with his run as a libertarian; I still give the man a lot of respect and credit! He doesn't pass out insults, he points out the obvious flaws of his opponents. When he tries to elaborates on what the solutions are, he gets cut off. When Gravel said that the candidates had no plans, they didn't. Their (Edwards, Clinton, Obama) websites had no specific doctrines at the time.
Good point haloofsin.
KCFreedom, check the profile of zull2. He sure as hell does know who Mike Gravel is.
But since zully is one of those classic examples of an elite Democratic party insider, he hates all genuine liberals.
They are a threat to the myth that Democrats actually represent the people instead of the corporate powers who run our country.
Worth noting that Mike Gravel left the Democratic party saying that they were actually working in tandem with the corporate interests that they were allegedly defending against.
This is why party before country trollies like zull2 are here to beat up on an honorable man.
Mike Gravel on talk shows? When?
He was "blacked-out" just like the other real change candidiates (i.e. Kucinich & Paul).
I get the impression you don't even know who Mike Gravel is. Read your history books, or do you even own one?
LOL Mike Gravel is change we can believe in....now I have to learn the souljahboy
lol goodspot
ROFLMAO!
Love Obama girl...and Love Gravel trying to sneak him a piece!
HAHAHAHAH i can't believe he did the solja boy!!
*Big Smile*,...
Makes me glad to be on of the 0.5% that voted for Gravel back in February!. Sure he is old - but in a fun cranky Grandpa kinda way,... not the scary way that McCain comes across.
yeah he's old but WORLDS APART from mccain in mindset.
gravel is one old dude who I wouldn't mind seeing as president. probably do better than most of the ones who are younger than him. hell I think the youngsters would love him.
Absolutely no doubt about it GoodGuys,... Gravel is the good kind of old-school thought. The kind of old-school thought that used to part and parcel of being a good Liberal.
I love my 'cranky Grandpa' - miss that old coot and would have voted for him in public office in a second. And as at least one other poster here pointed out - he would be damned fun to have a beer with and to get things done with.
