Clinton's Top Gun: "I Have Seen No Evidence Of Interest" In VP Spot

Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign rejected suggestions Sunday that Sen. Hillary Clinton is staying in the race in hopes of brokering some kind of agreement with the likely Democratic nominee.

"I don't believe that Sen. Clinton is looking for a deal," Obama's chief campaign strategist, David Axelrod, told "Fox News Sunday," when asked about suggestions she may want the Obama campaign's help retiring her campaign debt.

"I don't think that's what this is about," he said.

Last week, Obama sparked rumors that his campaign would pay off Clinton's campaign debts once he secured the nomination.

Thank God! This nightmare is not true!!!

Let Obama fall on his own sword. Hillary doesn't need an extremist. After walking away gracefully she can watch as a moderate takes the ticket and her warnings about McCain's connection with moderate democrats is realized.

I don't think she has any interest in VP either, and that is a HORRIBLE idea anyway - it's practically handing over a warehouse full of fodder to McCain! After considering several different reasons why Hillary continues with this charade that she has a chance, I've come to the conclusion that it serves no other purpose but to try and get her supporters to pay off her debt at this point.

I'm bothered by the idea of Obama paying off her debt too, it just doesn't sit well with me. I don't like the idea of him having paid for the smears she has launched against him either. It's a VERY generous notion for sure; but I'd rather he have EVERY advantage that his supporters have given him, available to him when running in the general!!!

The reason there is no evidence of interest in the VP by Hillary is that "there is no interest" in any offer to her. Mayor or Governor of New York might serve her purpose..........but I doubt that.

Good, because she won't be invited. The last thing Obama needs during his first four years is to have to keep watch over the Clinton Clan. Every week would bring a new, distracting scandal. If you think Bill Clinton actually cleaned up his act after her got nailed for his affair with Lewinsky, you are very naive. Let me remind you that he was under scrutiny back then for a different affair--with Paula Jones--and at least half a dozen of the women he had reportedly romanced, harassed, seduced, or made inappropriate advances toward were considered by the prosecution. Lewinsky was chosen because the affair was recent and because prosecutors had enough evidence so Clinton could not escape charges. This is what Clinton DOES, folks. It's his thing, and he will never change. So unless you want a Sex Scandal of the Month, do not send the Clintons back to Washington.

Mrs. Clinton is someone whose integrity has always been questioned throughout her entire professional career. I believe truly that she and her husband are symbiotic in their lack of integrity and gravitas.

Mrs. Clinton KNOWS that Senator Obama is the "real deal". He is comfortable in his skin because he has integrity and gravitas. President Obama will succeed because the real Democrats supporting her will vote for President Obama. Somebody's taking crazy pills if they think Obama would select Hillary Clinton as his VP.

Just imagine: all through the fall, if Hillary is on the ticket, Bill Clinton gets to continue his unhinged cross-country speechifying, reminding voters what a great president he was ...Obama would have to waste precious time rebutting 50% of the crap Bill would say, Bill's statements being craftily constructed to screw up Obama's campiagn and undermine the candidacy, so his wife could run in 2012. Not to mention, if Obamaprevailed in Nov., he would spend some percentage of his hard-won Presidency defending his VP's husband each time Bill got caught with his knickers down...

I think I agree, though we can't be sure. They might spend the first term doing everything they can to make sure he doesn't get a second term. In fact the more I think about it, the more I think the mere possbility of that is one of the best reasons---there are many---for Obama not to pick her as VP. Of course, even if she isn't VP, they might spend the next four years trying to undermine him in the way I've said. Bill and Hillary can't take rejection, I am fairly certain about that. They punish it.
