For one magical weekend, the world took a break from constantly reminding President Bush that he is awful at his job, and instead concentrated on his daughter's wedding. America was dazzled by the glamour, the romance, and the fact that Jenna had managed to make the news without being arrested for some sort of alcohol related offense.

To commemorate this joyous event, we've created a keepsake wedding album of some of our favorite pictures from Jenna's fairytale wedding in Crawford, Texas. What better way to describe a fairytale wedding than with an actual fairytale?

Now that one of W's semi-attractive daughters is married - will we be getting news that the groom will be enlisting in the military to fight the war on terror?

I keep checking the news for reports of the Bush off-spring joining the military but I guess they are joining up under different names - I mean they all must be joining up since the whole family is on record about not wanting the terrorists to win, aren't they?

Ok, we will give the new son-in-law until after the honeymoon to join up but then we want to see his royal butt in uniform, fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here.

How soon all of you forget that under Hussain MILLIONS of Iraqi people were slaughtered for simply no reason at all. The news media doesn't report all the good that our troops are bringing to the region. We don't hear about the cafes that are opening in certain regions, about how the people are gathering well into the night and walking the streets in towns that before they were afraid to go out into. The media doesn't tell you about the schools that are now up and running or how the women and children come running up to give hugs to our troops. If Bush were a democrat president then you can rest assured that we'd be hearing about all those positive things...not the case here. While we are on the subject, it seems to me that Obama should pay Iraq a visit. He is after all the ONLY one of the people running who has NOT been to the region. Come to think of it, McCain ins the ONLY one who has not one but TWO sons serving in the military. McCain walks the walk, he doesn't just give glorified pep talks like Obama.

Bush is not smart enough to ever be a Democrat. Yes, while you keep telling us these positive stories, there is more and more violence every day.

I don't forget what Saddam Hussain did - I also don't forget that Reagan, GHW Bush and Rumsfeld helped him and provided him with aid and arms. So what is your point, the quality of life for the average Iraqi was better before the US invasion. As long as you kept your mouth shut about politics, you had clean drinking water and electricity and you could go to the market without fear of being blowed up. How do you explain the approximate 4 million Iraqi refugees - both internal and external? Are these people just going on extended vacations? By the way, the Turkish army seems to be going after the Kurds every week or so - explain that? The media attempts to paint a pretty picture anyway because most of them are whores but the truth is that life in Iraq for the vast majority is a disaster and they blame us for it.

As far as McCain's children are concerned - one of them is still in Annapolis and I don't know if the one in the Marines has been deployed yet. But he still has two other children with Cindy - why aren't they in the war?

My comment was directed at the chief warmongers - Bush and Cheney, not McCain, but since he supports the Bush policies, he should put his children where his mouth is - not just the regular guys in the Army and Marines. IF YOU SUPPORT THE WAR - JOIN UP!!

It is famously said that the Nazis kept the trains on time too. The Germans had a great quality of life as well. Unless of course uou were a jew, homosexual, gypsy, black etc... Sort of like if you lived in Iraq and had the misfortune not to be a Sunni.

Couldn't say why his other kids aren't in the military but so far that's 200% of any other candidate.

I agree. If you support the war, join. Otherwise don't.

" McCain walks the walk, he doesn't just give glorified pep talks like Obama."

McCain can't tell a Sunni from a Shiite, and never met a K Street lobbyist he didn't like, *really* like. Just ask Charles Keating and Vicky Isemann.

Whatever McCain did during his stay at the Hanoi Hilton over 35 years ago has nothing to do with what he's done since, especially since getting caught taking "contributions" from Charles Keating. His slavish partisan devotion to the thoroughly discredited "Greedy Old Perverts" speaks more about how well he really "walks the walk" than anything else, including his willingness to keep our troops in a war launched and sustained by over 900+ *documented* lies about WMDs and debunked claims of connections between Saddam Hussein and 9/11.

Sorry, Jen, but this old fisherman and independent voter just won't swallow the bait the "Greedy Old Perverts" and "Hundred years War" McCain are dangling in my face. I know a red herring when I see one so obvious and rotten.

How many weddings in Iraq have been bombed? This 'family' makes me sick.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:09 AM on 05/13/2008

Seeing the hatred that you liberals spew out on here makes me sick. I was in Texas, near Crawford and the weather in the evening was wonderful and this area is beautiful, certainly no desert. It only makes sense to have your wedding in a place you love rather than Washington, which isn't their home forever. Just reading the posts on this site makes me sad that people have so much hate against another human being. You call Bush names and wish ill will on him and you don't even personally know the man. If reading these comments have made me realize one thing it's that I don't want to be associated with a party who hates like you all do. My mind is made up. I'm voting for McCain. I see so much less hatred coming from conservative sites/blogs. It's very obvious to me that there may be some truth to the saying that conservatives are happier people than liberals. At this point I'd be so much more proud to be a Republican than a hate-consumed Democrat.

McCain in 2008!

Are you proud of this:

http://www.armchairsubversive.org

proud of your vaunted GOP's actual performance record as the self-proclaimed "party of family values?"

How about proud of your party's President launching and sustaining a war for oil and empire based upon over 900+ *documented* lies about WMDs and debunked claims of connections between Saddam Hussein and 9/11?

Has your mortgage reset yet? How's your healthcare?

Jen, cut the guff, you never doubted you were voting for "Hundred years War" McCain, the happily bought lapdog of Charles Keating who can't tell a Sunni from a Shiite.

Legitimate, righteous anger is not hatred, but anger arrived at legitimately, fueled and ignited by seven and a half years of the most demonstrably corrupt administration in our nation's history. Not since Boss Tweed has American government seen such corrupt cronyism and venality.

For the record, I don't wish ill upon Bush, but justice for the countless thousands who lives his policies have ended, for the lives his policies have ruined with his bloody self-serving misadventure in Iraq, his grotesque ineptitude which has left one of America's great cities devastated after Hurricane Katrina, for the lives of American families his policies and his incompetence have left jobless, without healthcare, and without a home.

I'm so tired of Katrina being brought up. New Orleans was a mess long before Katrina. Long before Bush was in office that city was well aware of the dangers and did nothing among themselves to prevent such devastation. Buses were left sitting instead of being used to bus the elderly out. You can blame Bush for a lot of things but Katrina and the aftermath that followed was just as much a responsibility for that state and city as well as the government. The mayor sat on his ass and played the blame game instead of doing what needed to be done within his own community prior to and after the storm! Also, I personally know churches in my area that cooked food and provided shelter and clothing for some of the misplaced Katrina people and they repaid the church by punching holes in walls, shitting in the pews and smearing feces all over everywhere and literally destroying everything that they didn't steal. I know not all those affected by the storm showed such disrespect but it was very disheartening to see how they repaid the kindness offered to them. I personally know people who went down there to rebuilt and while they worked there were New Orleans residents just sitting by not lifting a finger, as if it were owed them. They had no desire to rebuild their OWN community they were sitting around waiting on someone to do it for them.

Good point. During the Katrina debacle, we saw many of the same issues here with many of the evacuees.

The vitriolic and "piss off" responses to your opinion are pretty emblematic of the liberal, take no personal responsibility, everybody does it. blame the screwed over Samaritan, mentality. That the liberal welfare mentality has created a don't give a shit, somebody will take care of things for me, attitude might be a problem they created doesn't connect.

That good people were outraged that the President was getting blow jobs under his desk in the white house, falls into the same category for liberals and they, as they point out, are angry to the point of hysterics because the concept of scruples is alien and frustrating to them.

Wow, really?! You mean there were ungrateful assholes in New Orleans? Hell, we better fence off the city now before it infects the rest of the country. Oh wait, they're COMPLETELY REPRESENTATIVE of every other city in the U.S., so piss off with your "blame all the victims because some are probably bad people" Republican mentality.

Waste your vote on McCain and watch what happens when the American people become sufficiently motivated by outrage upon outrage. The hate you see is nearly 8 years' worth of being lied to while the country circles the drain both financially and morally. I suspect the 85 in your username refers to your birth year, which would at least explain why you don't remember the level of bile from the GOP in the mid to late 90's.

PART II

As for the city and state governments, they could have done more, but at the end of the day FEMA still takes the lion's share under "Heckuvajob" Brownie, as disaster preparedness and emergency evac and relief is their purview, and their mandate under the law. This is the case because during a disaster of such magnitude local resources will prove insufficient to say the least, and state and federal resources are essential, especially in so densely populated an urban area.

New Orleans continues to be left to rot, as our country continues to waste billions of taxpayer dollars on the debacle in Iraq. I fail to see how this serves any sort of national interests of ours, nor do I see anything remotely *Christian* in the continued and clearly deliberate neglect of an entire population.

"They had no desire to rebuild their OWN community they were sitting around waiting on someone to do it for them."

Impoverish a population. Deny them basic civil rights for generations. Educate them to believe they are inferior for no other reason than the colour of their skin. Deny them decent housing, education, medical care, and above all employment opportunities. Feed them nothing but despair for *generations.*

Do all this long enough and consistently enough and I guarantee you that you'll breed despair, hopelessness, resentment, and above all destroy motivation and instill a sullen sense of entitlement for countless generations of past wrongs, like breeding germs in a Petri dish filled with feces.

Speaking of which, fecal smearing is a common behavior of the mentally ill, specifically Paranoid Schizophrenics. One can only wonder how many homeless mentally ill, drug users, petty criminals who escaped custody during Katrina, and felons mixed in with the evacuees.

This is a good thing, Red; your Democratic friends can come and read just how hypocritical partisans of the neo-con GOP really are, from "family values" to Cheney's war for oil and empire in Iraq and the 900+ *documented* lies thereof spewed by Tony Snowjob and Dana Perino at the behest of their GOP masters, to the foreclosure epidemic, healthcare denied to deserving vets as an apparent matter of official VA policy, McCain's habitual cozying up with Charles Keating and the K Street lobbyists, the malfeasance of NCLB, the running roughshod over the rule of law by the Busheviks and their corporate cronies, ad infinite nauseum.

So are you sure you want to "spread the word," Red?

I feel sorry for Jenna. She is so ashamed of her father that she will not get married at the White House. How messed up is that.....having Chimpy as your father? At one time, it would have been an honor and a privilege to be married at the White House. I guess that is still true for anybody not named Bush.

Typical Liberal elitist snarkiness. Look down your noses at people of the South. Then wonder why liberals don't connect with middle class working people.

PART II

I can connect better with a "liberal" Dinocrat better than a "Greedy Old Pervert" because the Dinocrat won't look down their snoot at other people because of the colour of their skin, their orientation, or their religion, while the "Greedy Old Pervert" will smile to your face, then do everything in their power to make sure that meaningful jobs only go to their cronies and their offspring.

I can connect better to a "liberal" Dinocrat than a "Greedy Old Pervert" for the simple reason that while the Dinocrats are merely annoying trying not to offend *anyone,* the "Greedy Old Pervert" in office is typically a raging hypocrite who will spew platitudes and the name of God and 'family values" to your face, all the while accepting the "contributions" of K Street lobbyists like Jack Abramhoff, and voting for policies and laws that benefit a hyper-wealthy few, to the detriment of the many, including *independent* middle class law-abiding taxpayers like me.

I'm a middle class workin' stiff. I connect better with a "liberal" Dinocrat than I do with a "Greedy Old Perverts" partisan six ways to Sunday. Why? because the latte-sipper is more likely to value education -real education rather than NCLB boondoggling like the GOP- for my children, rather than merely paying lip-service while spewing anti-intellectualist rhetoric in the name of God.

I can connect better with a "liberal" Dinocrat because they believe in the Rule of Law, while the "Greedy Old Pervert" thinks that there should be two sets of laws, one for them and their corporate Pharisee cronies, and another for everyone else.

I lived in your South as a young soldier and saw its wonderful caste structure. I saw black on the bottom, not-black next, white middle class, and then white upper class. Think outside the box you're in and accept the invitation to vote D. It will be better for you and yours. McCain will continue to grow the national debt with this extended war, (How conservative is that?) especially if Republicans are sent to congress.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:52 AM on 05/13/2008

It's interesting that Republicans have embraced the logic of class and identity-based politics now that they find themselves in a minority. Personally, I don't care who you are, where you live or how much money you make. I'm much more concerned with what someone thinks. Do you support torture, for example? Or preemptive war? A "unitary executive" who has the authority to detain American citizens indefinitely, without review by Congress or the courts? If so, you're wrong, regardless of where you live. If that is elitist snarkiness, then guilty as charged.
