James Carville has been one of Hillary Clinton's most energetic defenders, but on Monday he all but declared Barack Obama will become the Democratic nominee for president.

Speaking to students at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, Carville argued Clinton should stay in through the final nominating contest in early June, but said the Democratic tide appears to be moving in Obama's direction.

Carville hears the dogs barking? Hopefully it's Cesar Millan's pack coming to take him in for aggression rehab so he'll stop snarling and biting.

Well at least he is honest about the whole thing. He knew it was over a long time ago. He is loyal to the Clintons. Now, he is moving on to defeat the GOP.

Amazing how many nasty comments are here.

Look, I don't care which candidate you support. But you can't deny that both are smart, experienced candidates. You may criticize some of Hillary's tactics, but that's politics. You may point to Obama's relative inexperience, but he has more experience than a number of our most successful presidents. As for Carville and other advisers/surrogates, they are all Party faithful

Either Democrat will be better for this Country than would be McCain. Do you really want to continue the Iraq war? Roe v. Wade overturned by the conservative justices that McCain wants to appoint? Universal health care thrown out the window? The Patriot Act extended and strengthened? Bush tax cuts extended? Etc.?

I'm an Obama supporter (no, not a cult kiddie, an older professional white male). And if Clinton convinces the superdelegates select her, I will be pissed off. But I will send her a check and rally behind her because that will be the best thing for the country.

If you are a Clinton supporter who says you would vote for McCain rather than vote for Obama, or if you are an Obama supporter who says you would vote for McCain rather than vote for Clinton, then you are an idiot. Do you remember how you felt about the people who voted for Nader? You would be doing worse.

"Swing State" in this is OLD PARADIGM. Nothing emerging with such power, incandescence & consistency fails to show us.....the definition of OLD PARADIGM....being OLD.

This "swing state" as Chris Matthews pointed out this aM on MSNBC.....would have voted the same in the 1950s as we all knew it would all along NOW. and that oses to the sometimes incurable sickness of rascism/bigotry.

Amd painting a big demographic with a vitriole brush as broad as yours....is another form of that. Bigotry. Forget, if you honestly think your TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC comprises Obama's base....you also do not do your homework.

Maybe he was using psychological warfare, saying that Obama would probably get the nomination, just to energize the discouraged Hillary supporters. I don't trust him.

For all you ditto head Republicans who are visiting this progressive site:

Mississippi First District Special Election
Childers (D) 52%
Davis (R) 48%

This is the third special election won by Democrats in previously very deep red districts. Hastert's district, the one I live in, was Republican for three decades and the one Cazayoux won in Louisiana was Republican for over 25 years.

Get ready for a thrashing in November.

Please do not give weight to (no pun intended) Mr. Carville's anachronistic caricature of power/strength having anything to do with the reproductive system. Power is within. It owes to intelligence on a foundation of emotional health and differential vision.

It owes nothng to gender, chromosomes or organs. Please get UP out of the insecure pre schooler mud.....which is apparently, Mr. Carville's native internal milieu. Along wiht the crawfish.

Interesting choice of species. Given dogs are pack animals and, U bet, all about blind loyalty to the alpha dog....to the point, often, of being loyal to abusive human owners. Ponder.

Obama is now looking for campaign members for his general election that we will be sure to start come june 3... or sooner!!!

All I ask is that he does not allow the likes of this idiot on the campaign... he'll drag us all down!!!!

The only one who's dragged this party down... is the ridiculous youth voters.
Obama lost BIG in every BLUE state and SWING state NEEDED TO WIN a general election.

The REPUBLICAN machine worked again... by getting repubs to switch parties in all the RED states and vote for Obama. Those are the only real states he's won -- Red.

Kids want to help shoot the democrats in the foot by nominating an inexperienced big talker no-action Obama instead of a proven commodity -- great -- makes my vote for McCain much easier.
At least McCain has demonstrated that HE is willing to SERVE our country, unlike Obama
who just is serving his EGO.

People who jump from job to job (8 months as a US Senator and then announces run for President)... demonstate clearly that their interests DO NOT lie with the people.

Carville is going to loose all of his cable TV time if he suddenly starts making sense. I cannot believe the charlatans all over cable TV tonight. The so-called analysts and commentators have absolutely no ability to put anything into perspective (with a few exceptions like Chuck Todd on MSNBC). I didn't hear anyone mention that John McSame only received 1% of the vote in the West Virginia Republican primary (held earlier in the primary season). Yet, Tweety Bird Mathews was talking about the Clinton voters in West Virginia switching over to John McSame. How does that make any sense?
