Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) was the original impetus behind the Senate Democratic "war room," a legacy the candidate does not mention on the campaign trail but one that has significantly changed the upper chamber.

The war room is the name for the communications center that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) created after the disastrous 2004 election, when Democrats lost four Senate seats, including the seat held by former Democratic leader Tom Daschle (S.D.).

There is a special place in hell for Democrats who refuse to do what it takes to win elections. While the liberal purists bray about divisive politics, Republicans continue to get in power and get people killed by the thousands in pointless wars. Democrats owe a lot to leaders like Hillary Clinton, who actually cares about winning. The mass delusion that politics can be nice and happy and without the influence of special interests, just as long as we hope hard enough, does nobody any good. It's a blood sport and we need real competitors.

In the new Age of Obama, the war room will obviously have to go, since there will be no more conflict of ideas. Perhaps it could be replaced with a petting zoo.

Obama never says there won't be conflicts of ideas . . . or conflicts.

That's HRC, the testosterone-fueled warrior.

Wow, this is so Hillary. Pragmatic, decisive, creative, insightful and completely blind to the nuances of coexistence. The iron fist in the velvet glove, only without the glove.

I admire the hell out of her, but that lady is a modern-day Ahab. Wonder what her Moby Dick is?

Only shows she still has a besieged, bunker mentality. And it also shows Reid is trying to deliver faint praise in the midst of her bad news.

"War Room" is old politics. Let's restore the values of the founding of our country and create a "Compromise Room" in both houses.

it was her war room that allowed dems to gain the majority in the senate in 2006.

In that sense, then, there would be neither parties (warn of factions, although they arose in the first congress) nor committees, and each Senator would care only for his or her state not the union as a whole - I am afraid not too much would be accomplished if the founders' image of each chamber were in place in a contemporary America.

"Compromise" Hmmph. I don't think so.

In compromise, EVERYONE looses. I prefer CONSENSUS. In consensus, everyone agrees! Or at the least agrees to set aside differences to focus on what they can agree on. While this may SOUND like compromise, it is not!

And anyway, any compromise with the Republicans has, for roughly the last twenty-five years, meant capitulation. Not MY kind of politics. The Dems need to "grow a backbone." Nancy and Harry are JOKES as political leaders...

With regard to the room's name, "The Consensus Room" could work, but "The Compromise Room?!" YUCH! Where's a garbage can, I'm gonna wretch!

Either way, I'd like to know a LOT MORE than this article told us about this War Room Hillary inspired...
