Kerry Swiftboater: "We Will Attack Obama Viciously"

Barack Obama has been making efforts to tamp down donations to independent issue groups in an effort to control the level of negative attacks in the future. John McCain has made statements that he doesn't support 527s either, but the 527s don't seem to have gotten the message:

"We will attack Obama viciously on all fair issues, whether they are national security, whether they are taxes or the economy," promised Chris LaCivita, one of the Republican strategists behind the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, the group that attacked Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kerry in 2004. LaCivita added: "At the end of the day, every individual has a right to participate in the political process whether John McCain likes it or not. It's their constitutional right."

Go back through history and you will find that in every Presidential election, the GOP has used attack and deception as a tactic. If they argued policy they would never win. Nobody, including those who vote for them, would be in favor of what they stand for. They always have a Willie Horton, a Dukakis in a tank, a lie about Gore, or a lie about Kerry, or wedge issues. They never tell you that they are going to give tax cuts to the rich to shift the burden to the middle class. They never tell you that they are going to start an endless war for the profits of the military industrial complex and oil companies. They will tell you to be afraid, very afraid of the boogie man they are protecting you from. The GOP and their supporters are evil and stupid.

They weren't honorable combat veterans who were aggrieved by John Kerry's Silver Star and wanted to advance the truth. They were only right wingers who met in the Navy who chose to advance their extremist political agenda viciously distorting the truth. (Theirs is a politics of greed and falsehood, so if had they stated what they want and why, almost no one would have bought in. Instead, they lied--outright and deliberately--and managed to fool enough people just long enough to influence a major election.

What new lies will they now invent to smear the next Democratic candidate who, like the last one, holds views they lack the capacity to grasp fully or oppose honestly? A charge of cowardice will likely be a focus of theirs, for if they do not invent false cowards, how can they ever see themselves as heroes?

These 527 dumbasses don't realize that they are giving Obama the justification he needs to not take public funding for the general election. If he and McCain both took public funding that would put them on a more level playing field for the nomination. Now that the 527s are showing that they will supplement the public money, Obama would be a fool to reduce his ammo by taking public funding. Which means he won't do it. He will continue to use his grassroots cash machine to blow McCain and his 527s away.

Before you do though, ask Greg Davis of Mississippi how well that strategy worked out for him when he got his ASS handed to him by a Democrat, Travis Childers, in the special election held yesterday. Childers beat the Republican Davis by a solid EIGHT points in one of the most conservative districts in the country. Their entire strategy was to cast Obama as a "liberal" (gasp), tie Childers to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and to condemn Childers for not condemning Obama for being associated with the Reverend They got SPANKED! So please Republicans, play that card and watch what happens in the general election. If we can do this in Mississippi we can damn sure do it in the rest of the South including WEST VIRGINIA. it will be the end of your party - and we'll be popping champagne bottles at your political funeral. They might want to remember that they are a lot of republicans who respect Obama even though they may not share his views. Obama doesnt demonize people and when you demonize someone thats respected by many in your party it might end up backfiring on you and you turn off your own.

The least they can do is give him the same respect that he gives John McCain and STICK to the ISSUES but of course they wont becuase they know thats a sure LOSER for their McBush guy.
