UPDATE: Six more Edwards' delegates have signed up with Obama.

So far, one of John Edwards' pledged delegates has switched to Obama:

Joshua Denton of Portsmouth, 26, an Iraq war veteran, says he thinks that both Obama and Hillary Clinton would be a better president than Republican nominee John McCain. He thinks that Obama is the change the country needs, along with having the best chance of beating McCain in the general election.

"My fear with Hillary was just because she is who she is -- for better or worse -- she would sink, not just lose the presidency," but Democrats in Congress, Denton said Wednesday.

Edwards has nineteen total delegates, who are now essentially superdelegates. It has to be expected, though, that the endorsement by their candidate will sway the minds of these eighteen remaining delegates.

This is very good news. Obama is an excellent leader for us.

***"The party bosses are gone," said Eisinger. "It"s not that the leaders don"t exist. But rather, the political culture that allows a party elder to tap a senior senator on the shoulder and say, "It"s time to bow out," is gone."***

Which is why the old-school machine politicians such as Ed Rendell have worked so hard for Clinton. They fear Obama and reform.

There was NO WAY that Edward was going to support Hillary Clinton, since Edwards hates lobbyists, just like Obama does. Both Obama and Edwards fomr the beginning of the presidential campiagn last year stated clearly that they were AGAINST lobbyists, and wanted them out of Washington.

Almost ALL of the people working on Hillary Clinton's campaign are lobbyists, and worst they are lobbyists who are working for foreign countries, and foreign companies, who have taken away jobs from this country, and away from American workers.
Glover Park, a lobbyist working for Hillary was paid $120,000 to push for a Defense Department job contract to the FRENCH company "Airbus". Jack Quinn, another Hilary lobbyist got over $600,000 from the French company "Airbus", for that same deal.
Mark Penn was receiving money, $300,000 from the country of Columbia, to push through a trade deal, Hillary has been "saying" she is against, By the way let's not forget that Hillary's own greedy husband Bill Clinton also received $800,000 payment from Columbia to push the trade deal as well, also received money from Columbia, Howard Wolfson, as well as Patti Solis Doyle, both lobbyists working with Hillary.
Hillary and the people she works with care MORE about their bank accounts than about the interests of the American people, and Edwards was not going to go against his principles and endorse her. It was NEVER going to happen!!!

Edwards lacks class! He had actually made up his mind the week before, but waited to this week because Obama told him too. This is called dirty dishonest politics. Obama released Edwards yesterday to keep the media away from his landslide loss in West Virginia. As he did with Richardson after the Wright controversy. Edwards just became an Obama puppet!!!
And to add to the dishonesty, they did it in Michigan, after Obama blocked a revote there. Yesterday Obama told Michigan voters he was so sad he was not allowed to campaign there!!! What BS and dishonesty on Obama's part!

Get a grip! And while you are it get some history books and get informed about what should be labeled as "dirty, dishonest politics." Better yet, look at what your candidate and her mentors, the Republicans have been doing so that you can get a better understanding of what dirty politics is all about. Or maybe you are just practicing a bit of dirty dishonest politics yourself.

Your full of it, he just said today he made up his mind a few days ago.Are you his brain, do you know when he made up his mind ? Don't put words in someone's mouth that he didn't say. Maybe if you would pay attention you would know the facts. Check with Matt Lauer, he told him when he decided. Edwards has more class than you could ever have. If you would have a few brain cells you would know that Obama NEVER blocked a revote, stop spreading your lies. You see where lies like yours gets you, don't you ? Obama knew he would loose in WV, so why would he keep away from the media ? Do a little reading ,you might become smarter there truthseeker ! You seen what lies did to Hillary !

I don't see how campaign strategy is dirty politics. How is any different than a candidate "mis-speaking" about "hard working white Americans" just before the West Virginia and Kentucky primaries- knowing all too well how it will appeal to the racial fears of the voters.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:59 AM on 05/16/2008

Right. The last thing we want in a nominee or a President is someone who can set goals, identify a strategy to employ to achieve those goals, and deftly deploy resources in support thereof.

How is it dishonest to roll out an endorsement at an opportune time? Are are you just grabbing at straws because it worked?

Once again the mighty Clinton machine was outmanuvered by the junior senator from Illinois. If she would just drop out, she could stop looking so foolish.

If only he could be as honest as Hillary. She is quite the model of virtue.

you do know your girl said no to a plan that would give her a 10 point lead and seat the delegates

If it were about seating the delegates, then she woulda taken it. But as you can see, it is not. Its about her

Even if he did tell him to wait....So?

He was scrounging for supers last week and hardly held any rallys or town halls until Monday of this week after the blowout. So this week was perfect for it to come out

Are you serious? Tell you what. Do us a favor and go over to Fox news where Terry Mc is saying that they are the fairest to Hillary. Hillary has gone farther right than Dick Cheney. Go rescue her and bring her back to the Democratic Party. Your candidate has been moving the goal post and trying to change the rules. The puppet is you. Obama has played fair and square. You guys lost a 30 point lead and you have no clue why. Its not Barack's fault. He didn't run the awful Clinton campaign.

It was smart politics. That's how the game is played. And, one more time, he did not block the revote. Hillary turned down the plan Michigan came up with last week. He would have liked to campaign there because when voters get to know him, many of them support him. Now he has to double his efforts there for the general election - not the strategy he would have liked to employ there.

95% of brothers and sisters are voting Obama because your girl Hillary and your boy Bill kicked us to the curb for the "Hard working white folks vote". I was going to support her and then she and her husband started race baiting. As for his lack of significant wins... How about the Democratic Nomination. Is that big enough for you. The Lady and her husband ran a very poor campaign. You would have thought they were the neophytes rather than Obama. A 30 point lead completely blown. Why? Incompetence, over confidence and arrogance. Obama has run a very good campaign. Plain and simple.

Yes! Someone else saw--and was disgusted by--the Clintons' race-baiting! It turned my stomach only a little more than the media's lack of coverage of it.

Remember, super delegates can change their minds at anytime before the voting in August at the Convention -- the same is true of pledged delegates too (which is really strange)

Obama has not lost a single delegate or SD. Elected delegates are all vetted, to prevent a flip. Only the most ardently loyal are selected. As for Hillary's elected delegates, same thing. All the defections from Hillary's camp were the SDs.

He is not to be underestimated. Look what he's done to the old school Democratic machine that had ordained Hillary as THE candidate.

She actually lost a pledged delegate the other day, and she lost one or two from Iowa as well.

That argument failed to recognize one key factor in Obama's success. The super delegates are not answerable to Bill Clinton and or Hillary Clinton. Rather they are answerable to their constituencies and they know, recognize the power of Obama's grassroot movement. They don't want to lose the next election they face by having us organize against them.

Clinton as VP defines disaster for the Obama presidency because:
1. Hillary has demonstrated her Machiavellian powers and her willingness to use them, e.g., in the extreme, someone has proposed that if Hillary becomes VP, Obama should hire a phalanx of taste testers.

2. The foundation of almost all of our major problems are the corporations, and their lobbyist and congressional extensions. Hillary is a hard core corporatist. She would use her corporate networks to confound congressional support, and rip the guts out of Obama's anti-corporate programs, the very programs most required to begin to turn this country around.

3. Hillary would use her clout with her supporters to conduct clandestine anti Obama publicity campaigns that would be harmful to Obam's programs and reputation, and distort the reality of his activities. Only Karl Rove as VP would be a worse choice.

4. John Edward is the best choice because of his anti-corporate junk yard dog reputation. His presence as VP would serve as an insurance policy to discourage assassination fantasies among corporate evil doers.

Remember: ITS THE CORPORATIONS STUPID.

You don't really believe that do you.
Complete crap.

You know that these people are liars. It's simple! If you're looking for facts: things that true, you can forget watching the news on tv. I can't count all the lies that Hillary, Bill, Terry, Carl, Condi, Bushy and Cheney tell. They go on record lying about 95% of what comes out of their mouths.

Our job as Americans is find out what the truth is and you can't get that watching a 30 second sound byte on a biased network.

Ireland - you know I love you. Let me say this: I have no problem if Obama decides Clinton is the right choice for VP.
look at the way this campaign has been run.
have you ever seen such calm cool collected controlled decisions in any business.
one need look into a short history to see that the President sets the tone of the Admininstration

Bush - VP Cheney had all the power
Clinton - VP Gore had hands tied and First Lady Hillary had 2nd spot on totem pole
Kennedy - VP Johnson had little inside info while AG Rbt Kennedy had 2nd spot

Obama will not give Clinton the VP spot unless he has complete control over her and Bill.
He has more than proven that he has the capacity to take the lead and set the tone and put everyone in their place.

If he decides to give Clinton the VP spot, I am OK with it. He will NOT do it if he has any hesitation.

It all depends on two things: whether Hillary is really interested in being second banana. VP is a low key, low visibility position, subservient to the Prez. Second, it depends on who Obama selects as the VP of choice.

The only time a VP was forced on the Presidential nominee was LBJ on JFK. it was, however, a huge upset that JFK got the nomination over LBJ, and he needed the southern vote (at the time, there was such a thing as Southern Democrats, who all switched to the Republican Party when LBJ signed the Civil Rights bill).

Hillary brings no such regional benefit. The Democrat will win NY with or without Hillary. So, we'll be speculating all summer. Btw, choosing a VP will be just as hard for McCain, only for different reasons.

Thanks for the link! I am not sure what to make of it, though. Do you suppose some super delegates double deal--endorse Obama and then vote VP for Hillary and thereby not offending either side?

As the delegates surge for Obama, McCain woos Hillary democrats. In particular, the women, who feel insulted, belittled, mocked, by the toxic tone of individuals like matthews and olbermann. they are shoving these women toward McCain. McCain has made overtures regarding democrats in his administration and cabinet. He is attracing Hillary's supporters, and attemtping to pull Hillary, herself, toward him. carla fiorini is shoring up his finance cred, and he's in Oregon talking up climate change, appealing to young evangelicals who are organized and passionate. we bask in the shock and awe of every new obama delegate, as mccain executes a carefully designed strategy: frontal assault on security credentials and the war on terror. no attacks since 9/11, etc, using the terrorist card while circling the hillary democrats. Look for an october surprise involving a security threat on the mainland. mccain will then carry New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida and Ohio. rather than arranging the delegate chairs on the titanic, look to your base, barak. pull hillary closer to you, don't push her away. don't let her exit gracefully, as most of your people want her to do. you need much more from her than that. you need hillary on the ticket. in a matter of ten to fifteen days, she will probably not want it. the window is closing. a substitute woman will not work with her people, and your presidential chances, and our need for a democrat in the white house, will be nothing more than a dream.

then go and join the Republican party, because they speak with Fork Tongues too,
