Shania Twain And Husband Split

TORONTO — Shania Twain and husband-producer Robert "Mutt" Lange are splitting up after 14 years of marriage. The 42-year-old Canadian country superstar and 59-year-old Lange married in 1993 and have a 6-year-old son named Eja. Her publicist provided no further details Thursday about the couple's breakup.

Lange and Twain, best known for her hits "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" and "You're Still the One," recently opened a hiking trail on their property in New Zealand, fulfilling a pact designed to allay fears that wealthy foreigners were snapping up and sealing off the country's prime real estate.

Lange produced three of Twain's albums: 1995's "The Woman in Me," 1997's "Come on Over" and 2002's "Up!"

I always wondered what happened to Shania after she married that Mutt Lang person. She stopped making and recording music. She just sort of disappeared. When she met this guy she was at the top of her game. She had crossed over from country to mainstream and was doing pretty good. She's not the greatest talent but their was something about her that people loved. Then all of a sudden...gone. That's what happens when these famous women marry these control freaks. The give up lives, their careers for these losers and become co-dependent. I do hope she starts performing again. She's going to have some great material after all this shit!!

omfg, don't you realize who produced shania? she has mutt lange to thank for meteoric rise in country. he was a "private" freak - kept their private life private, moved to switzerland to escape the photos, tried to live a life. he bought up all his pix before shania came out with the album that made her a star - and he did it because both she and he wrote the songs and produced the CD and knew exactly what would happen: she was going to break big time. it was shania's choice to take some time off to have a baby and be a mother, though she did continue to record.
